🌽 Putting Up Corn at The Jeremiah Tree! 🌽

Yesterday, the JT guys spent some time doing something that is about a whole lot more than just filling the freezer, we were putting up corn to make fried corn this winter!

We cut the corn off more than 250 ears, doing it the same way Brother Kenny’s Granny used to do it. There’s something special about standing around a table, working together, laughing, telling stories, and carrying on a tradition that has been passed down through generations.

Granny may not have ever imagined that one day her way of putting up corn would be taught to a group of men at The Jeremiah Tree, but what a beautiful picture of how God works. ❤️

It is such a blessing to see family traditions passed on to the next generation, and shared with friends who have become family.

And sometime this winter, when there’s a big skillet of fried corn on the stove at the HomePlace, we’ll get to enjoy the fruit of yesterday’s labor…and probably argue over who gets the last spoonful! 😂🌽

At The Jeremiah Tree, discipleship happens in Bible studies, around the dinner table, on work trips…. and sometimes with 250 ears of corn spread out in front of you.

This is community. This is family. This is the abundant life. 🌳✝️

A lot of folks have asked, “What exactly were the Jeremiah Tree guys doing down in Knoxville?”

This news report does a great job of showing exactly what we were part of!

https://www.wvlt.tv/2026/08/09/students-move-into-university-tennessees-new-9-story-residence-hall-first-day-classes/

We were helping with the massive college move-in operation at the University of Tennessee, unloading vehicles, moving students’ belongings, pushing carts, carrying boxes, and helping families get everything from their cars into the residence halls. It is a BIG operation, and I can promise you, it is WORK! 😂💪

Now, you may watch the news report and wonder, “Where are the JT guys?”

Well… unfortunately, none of us made it on camera.

Apparently, the Jeremiah Tree men were simply moving too fast for the cameras to catch us. 😂

And Brother Kenny? Forget about it. He was moving at such an incredible rate of speed that eyewitnesses report he appeared only as a slight blur passing through the background. 😂😂

All joking aside, here is why trips like this are so important to our ministry:

The colleges hire a company to help handle these huge move-in operations. That company pays The Jeremiah Tree for the work our team provides and covers our travel expenses. Every one of us who goes on these trips, including the men in our program and Brother Kenny, is volunteering their time for The Jeremiah Tree.

That means the money earned goes back into the ministry and helps us continue doing what the Lord has called us to do, providing a Christ-centered place where men can find accountability, discipleship, brotherhood, and ultimately an abundant life in Jesus Christ.

So when you see us loading up a van and heading to Tennessee or Georgia for a “work trip,” this is what we are doing. We work hard, we work together, and we raise money for the ministry while giving our guys an opportunity to live out Colossians 3:23:

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”

We are tired. We are sore. And apparently we are too fast for television. 😂

But we are incredibly thankful for another opportunity to work together, represent The Jeremiah Tree, and invest a little sweat into the work the Lord is doing back home.

🌳 Rooted in Christ. Rooted in Victory.

And the work trip isn’t over yet! We are in Atlanta tonight, getting some rest before we head to Georgia Tech for the next two days to do it all over again! 💪

Please keep the JT guys in your prayers for strength, safety, and a good couple of days of work. Atlanta, here come the JT guys! And somebody tell the cameras to increase their shutter speed if they want to catch Brother Kenny this time. 😂📸

🌳 ROOTED IN VICTORY 🌳

This summer, The Jeremiah Tree is inviting you to become part of something eternal.

Through our Rooted in Victory fundraiser, we are building Victory Grove, a peaceful place at the HomePlace where men and their families can gather, heal, and grow together. Victory Grove will include a Gospel fire circle, a playground for children spending precious time with their fathers, a creekside baptism area, and a picnic space for churches, families, and friends of the ministry.

Addiction has stolen enough. We believe Jesus Christ still restores broken lives, rebuilds families, and gives men an abundant life!

The Jeremiah Tree serves as the “Inn” from the parable of the Good Samaritan, a place where hurting men can receive care, hear the Gospel, and begin again. Your gift helps us keep the Inn open while also preparing Victory Grove for generations of changed lives.

Old-Time Faith. Deep Roots. True Victory.

Become part of something eternal. Invest in victory. Transform lives.

🦁🐘 A Great Day at the Zoo for the JT Guys! 🦒🐅

The JT guys had a great time today enjoying our day off at the zoo! After a couple of long, hot days of hard work here in Tennessee, it was good to slow down for a day, enjoy some laughs, see the animals, and just spend some time together.

We walked a lot, laughed even more, saw plenty of animals, and somewhere along the way we even managed to find the official selfie spot at the zoo! 📸😂

Of course, that was probably the worst possible discovery for Brother Kenny, who has been a little too excited about his new selfie stick. By the end of the day, the guys had seen enough. There was serious discussion about confiscating it, and we’re pretty sure Brother Kenny is now on selfie-stick probation. 😂

Apparently there really is such a thing as too many selfies.

Most importantly, today was just a good day of fellowship and making memories together. Trips like this involve a lot of early mornings, long days, hard work, and time away from home, so having a day like today right in the middle of it was a real blessing.

Once again, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to the anonymous donor who made our zoo visit possible. Your generosity gave these guys a day they will remember for a long time.

Now it’s back to work tomorrow… and hopefully back to work without Brother Kenny’s selfie stick! 😂

🦁🐘 A WELL-DESERVED DAY OFF AT THE KNOXVILLE ZOO! 🦒🐯

The Jeremiah Tree guys have been putting in some long, hot days during our Tennessee/Georgia work trip, and today we are blessed to have a day off!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of an anonymous donor, the JT guys are getting to spend the day together at the Knoxville Zoo!

These work trips are important fundraisers for our ministry, and our guys work hard while we are here. But days like today are important too. It gives us a chance to slow down, laugh together, make some memories, and simply enjoy the brotherhood God has built among us.

For some of our men, recovery is about learning that you can enjoy life, travel, laugh, and make good memories without returning to the things that once controlled you. There is an abundant life on the other side of addiction!

And apparently, Brother Kenny decided this trip was the perfect opportunity to get himself a brand-new selfie stick… so everyone should probably prepare themselves for entirely too many JT group selfies for the foreseeable future! 😂🤳 Brother Kenny has discovered new technology, and the guys may already be regretting it!

To the anonymous donor who made today possible: THANK YOU! You didn’t just buy zoo tickets you gave these men an experience and a memory they will carry home with them.

Now we’re off to enjoy the zoo and, whether they like it or not, probably take another selfie! 😂🦁🤳

🍗 A Little Kentucky History Along the Way! 🇺🇸

The Jeremiah Tree guys made a pretty neat stop in Corbin, Kentucky, to eat at the historic Sanders Café — the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken!

Long before KFC became known around the world, Colonel Harland Sanders was serving hungry travelers right here in Corbin. In 1930, Sanders began serving meals to travelers passing through his service station. As word about his cooking spread, Sanders Café was born, and during the 1940s this is where he developed the famous Original Recipe and its secret blend of 11 herbs and spices. 🍗

The current Sanders Café opened in 1940, and Colonel Sanders operated the restaurant until 1956. Today, the historic site has been preserved as a working KFC and museum, complete with memorabilia and pieces of the original Sanders Café story. (Sanders Cafe & Museum)

It was pretty special for the JT guys to sit down for a meal in the place where an idea that started small in Corbin, Kentucky, eventually grew into something known around the world.

And, of course, we couldn’t stop at the birthplace of KFC without having some chicken! 😂🍗

🚐 THE JEREMIAH TREE IS ON THE ROAD! 🙏🌳

The Jeremiah Tree guys are loaded up and heading south! We’re off to Knoxville, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia, for a week of hard work, fellowship, and ministry fundraising!

One of the things I love about these trips is that our guys get the opportunity to work together, earn money to help support the ministry, and experience what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves. Every dollar earned on this trip will help The Jeremiah Tree continue pointing men toward an abundant life in Jesus Christ.

Please keep our crew in your prayers as we travel. Pray for safe miles, strong backs, good attitudes, unity among the guys, and opportunities to let the light of Christ shine everywhere we go.

We’re thankful for everyone who supports us, prays for us, and makes opportunities like this possible.

Knoxville & Atlanta… here come the Jeremiah Tree guys! 🌳💪
