Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Happy 2026! What a great opportunity that we have before us! May we look Onward with Hope and Trust! May we seek our Heavenly Father’s direction and be willing to follow where He leads.

I just wanted to update the Mission Center on two items. First of all, we had a very successful Very Brush Creek Christmas concert. It was a beautiful service and the Holy Spirit was abundantly with us. Thank you to Jack Ergo for generously sharing his gifts and talents. Also, thank you to Ann Schwengel for all of the countless hours that she spent planning, organizing, and implementing the day. Thank you to all of the others who participated in the service, provided photographs and crafts, hosted the Mission Center in the Flora church, and helped in any way possible. It is impossible to name everyone! The fundraiser brought in $13,355!!!!

BCMC hosted the annual Hydration Retreat on December 30 – January 1. We had 43 campers!!! Special thank you to Trent Bennett, Hannah Collins, and Charley Shelton for directing this retreat! Also, thank you to Bri Stewart for helping guide these three and for serving as the camp pastors. Our young adults are showing up in a very faithful way. There were also many others who helped make the retreat successful!!!

May you have a blessed 2026! I can’t wait to see everyone this summer!

For those of you who did not get a chance to come to the concert yesterday, here is an opportunity to still give to this fundraiser for Brush Creek campground. As you know, upkeep of the campground continues and the expenses continue. For 131 years, this campground is a place where people draw close to God and to each other. Just a little tease of the treat that is in store tomrrow. Very Brush Creek Christmas tomorrow at 2 pm at the Flora Community of Christ.

‘Twas three nights before the concert,
And all through the town
Excitement was stirring,
Both up and down.
The church was decorated,
The candles were arranged,
Though winter winds howled,
Their minds were unchanged.

The posters were hung
With such care and such haste,
In hopes that the crowd
Would not leave an empty space.
While visions of music
danced in their heads,
they prayed for good weather
in their cozy warm beds.

The volunteers, all weary and worn,
Had planned every detail
Since early that morn.
With the helpers in full swing,
The plans were all set,
The finest musician
The town had seen yet.

For the featured performer,
The word had gone out,
Jack Ergo would play,
Putting all doubt to rout!
His talent a beacon,
His music a call,
To gather the faithful,
To gather them all.

Though frost nipped the window
And snow started to fall
They knew that the faithful
Would answer the call.
For the love of the campground,
For the music so clear,
They’d come with great spirit,
And banish all fear.

And a spirit of giving
Would fill every heart,
From the generous crowd,
As they played well their part.
With joyful donations,
The goal would be met,
A wonderful outcome,
A sure-fire good bet.

The night of the concert,
The church was packed tight
With hearts full of warmth
And faces all bright.
As the music began,
A beautiful sound,
The spirit of giving
Was truly unbound.
With the spirt of Christmas
In the air,
Come celebrate Christ
And share His love everywhere.

Dear Friends,

Just a reminder that the annual Very Brush Creek Christmas concert is next Sunday, December 7 at 2 pm at the Flora Community of Christ. The day promises to be a wonderful day as we celebrate the birth of Christ. We are so very fortunate to have Jack Ergo as our very special guest. This is a very unique opportunity. In addition to the concert, there will be a dulcimer group to welcome attendees. There will also be crafts and photography on display with some of the items up for sale.

This is a fundraiser for Brush Creek Campgrounds. Last year, we raised $13,000. May we let this be our goal this year as we contemplate what we can give to help future generations be able to have the life-changing experiences at Brush Creek.

See you on the 7th at 2 pm!
