On Saturday, May 30, Kesher Zion Synagogue hosted a special Jubilee Shabbat Kiddush honoring our "Super Seniors" - members aged 90 and over. Nearly 50 people gathered to celebrate these remarkable individuals and share in an afternoon filled with warmth, memories, and gratitude. Honorees and their family members shared heartfelt tributes and treasured recollections, creating a meaningful and memorable program for all in attendance. As a special memento of the day, each honoree received a beautiful floral centerpiece handcrafted by Doris Leisawitz. It was a wonderful celebration of longevity, community, and cherished friendships - truly a memorable day for everyone who attended.

The Jewish Federation of Reading & Jewish Cultural Center of Reading is proud to share that on May 11, we received two commendations from Reading City Council in recognition of both Jewish American Heritage Month and Israel’s Independence Day, Yom Ha’atzmaut. These commendations are meaningful acknowledgments of the contributions and ongoing presence of the Jewish community in our region. They also reflect the importance of fostering understanding, partnership, and civic engagement within the broader community. We are especially grateful for the opportunity to continue building a positive and collaborative relationship with the City of Reading through Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC). We believe that when communities work together with mutual respect and shared purpose, we create stronger, more welcoming, and more vibrant cities for everyone. Thank you to Reading City Council for this recognition and for their partnership. We look forward to continuing this important work together.
