Last week at David’s House, we enjoyed a special time together during our own Vacation Bible School, led by our wonderful activity coordinators. The week kicked off with Wake Up and Worship, where we sang worship songs, complete with motions, and learned our verse for the week, Matthew 5:16, reminding us to let our light shine.

Throughout the week, there was a great mix of worship, Bible lessons, crafts, Bible trivia, and activities. One of the most meaningful moments was sharing communion together, led by our chaplain.

We ended the week with a VBS party, singing our favorite songs, enjoying s’mores, and celebrating each resident with a certificate. It was such a great week filled with faith, connection, and growth.

A few weeks ago, we invited our community to dine out for a cause at Russ' Restaurants Benefit Week, and you showed up in such a meaningful way.

We loved hearing the stories of friends, families, and coworkers meeting up at Russ’ throughout the week. It was a joy to see our community come together over a meal while supporting David’s House Ministries.

Summer kicked off in one of our favorite ways with the Driver’s Training Obstacle Course.

Residents walked and rode their way through the course, practicing forward and reverse parking, navigating turns, yielding at the railroad tracks, stopping for pedestrians, and choosing the right direction at the roundabout. Along the way, each driver showed off their skills and earned points at every stop, adding a little extra fun and friendly competition to the course.

Everyone finished strong and proudly earned their driver’s license for another year. Way to go, drivers!

This month, we're celebrating 39 years of David's House Ministries!

Let's take a trip back to 1987...

🎵 Whitney Houston was topping the charts with "I Wanna Dance with Somebody"

⛽ Gas was under $1 a gallon

📺 Shows like P***y Brewster were on TV

And right here in West Michigan, a powerful idea was taking shape:

🏠 That everyone deserves a place to call home.

What began as one home serving 10 residents has grown into a community of nine homes and 66 residents today. Made possible by the support of so many along the way.

We are so grateful for our friends from Ajacs who showed up once again ready to serve.

These four incredible guys got right to work and quickly spread 15 yards of mulch across our property, refreshing our beds and making everything look beautiful and well cared for.

Their willingness to jump in and serve so faithfully makes a lasting difference here at David’s House. We are truly thankful for their hard work, generosity, and continued partnership.

We had such a great time volunteering at Hestóvin Stables Therapeutic Riding Center last week!

Once a month, a group from David’s House heads out to serve at Hestovin Stables. Last week, we helped clean and make the space look its best, spent some time making cards for veterans, and of course - got to hang out with the horses. Brushing them was definitely the highlight!

We’re so thankful for these opportunities to give back and connect with such amazing places in our community. Can’t wait for next month!
