At the end of a significant speech to Congress on January 6, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt outlined his vision for a post-war world. He identified four fundamental freedoms that should be accessible to everyone: freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. While these freedoms have been realized to some extent, the impact of President Roosevelt's vision is evident today.
Sadly, our current government is actively working to strip away these freedoms. We recall from our history that many fascist leaders sought to destroy our basic freedoms. My friends, this is happening again. The actions we are seeing are not new. The Word of God teaches us, “what has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV2011). Once more, our culture faces an assault on our freedoms. We must stand against the assault on our civil liberties. While we fight to protect our freedoms, I would like to suggest that we need another freedom.
Man needs to be free from himself and from the tyranny of his sinful nature. We need Jesus to help us. Our government must yield to Christ and destroy the high places of pride and arrogance. If we are to survive as a nation, we must surrender to the Lord Jesus, repent of our sins, and obey God's instructions.
