Mark Twain Competition:

Listed below is the schedule for the Mark Twain Competition on October 2nd. All times are as accurate as possible. Departure time is absolute….DO NOT BE LATE. The schedule is based on the schedule from Mark Twain. We try to make our return estimates as accurate as possible, but occasionally outside influences can cause us to run either a bit early or late. We request that you pick students up no later than a half hour after the return time. You may always sign your child out immediately after their last performance. It may only be a parent or guardian who signs a student out and ID may be required if you are not familiar to the director or chaperone handling sign outs. I realize this can be a bit annoying, but please remember it is your child’s safety that is the primary concern being addressed. Please refer any questions to us at 745-7500 ext 10914.

SCHEDULE:

6:15 am – Dressed and ready to go in your band room (uniform pants and shoes
6:30 am – MS Depart – we will not wait on you – DO NOT BE LATE.
9:00 am - Parade begins.
The parade will start at Center Baptist Church,415 S Public Street Center, MO 63436).
Our step off is scheduled for 10:00 am, but we have to be there and unloaded prior to the start of the parade. We will stop on the way.
11:40 am - Indoor percussion performance- Mark Twain HS
1:00 pm - Parade/Indoor awards
4:00 pm - HS Field performance - Mark Twain HS
5:45 pm - Field Awards
6:30 pm- Depart for home.
8:30-9:30- Arrive WCHS and unload.
The concession stand at Mark Twain is open and is the best option for meals. We may make one quick stop on the way home.

One note to parents: I could use at least one more chaperone if I have anyone who has a completed background check on file.

Just a reminder to HS members: If you need a coordinate sheet, I need to know what number you are..... that is all.-- Schaffer

High School Band Reminder: If you have not been fitted for a uniform, this HAS to occur before the game on Friday. We can do fittings before school as Mr. Till is available and after school. You must have your spandex to be fitted.--Schaffer

Students: A good number of you did not turn in order forms during camp. All orders must be in the first day of school if I am going to have shoes here in time for the first game. If you lost the form, you will need to be prepared to fill it out in class. If you were not in camp, you need to know, FOR SURE, if you need new marching shoes and what size shirt you need. I also need a final count of additional shirts that parents etc want.--Schaffer

Schedule for this evening: The Boosters are doing dinner from 5-6 pm. The students will start moving to the field at 6:15 to set up. The parent preview starts at 7:00. Immediately after the performance the students will be moving the equipment back into the band room and we will have the senior talk and camp wrap up. Veteran parents are aware, but for the new ones, we rarely are done by 9:00. 9:30 is a better estimate. --Schaffer

With full camp just around the corner, here are your annual reminders for "normal" camp..i.e. all day:

1. While we do have water available, it is far better for you to have a jug of your own...not just a single disposable bottle. When you go outside, your water goes with you. We will not have an endless trek of people in and out of the building getting things they forgot.
2. Sunscreen, sunscreen, and more sunscreen. The lighter complexion you have, the more you need it, but everyone need sunscreen. The last thing we need is people getting drastically burned and missing a good portion of camp.
3. Plan your meals. We will have lunch daily from 12-1 and dinner from 5-6. Those may get extended, but the start time won't change. You can bring a meal or go to get food...but traffic or slow service is not an excuse to be late. The Boosters will have dinner for you on Friday evening before the parent performance.
4. If you still don't have music, get it immediately when you get here.

Those are the basics. Preparation is everything.

Just a little reminder......

The listing for MMEA is now out, and unfortunately, we were not selected. The students should still be incredibly proud of the recording they produced. The competition was very fierce this year. My pride in the group is still as intense as ever. Now we continue on to marching season and set some new goals. -- Schaffer
