Dear Friends,
Just a few weeks back I was blessed to share the Old Testament, Scriptural pattern, on the choosing of Israel’s leader. They called them kings. To briefly glimpse at this pattern, God anointed a man prior to him coming to lead. The ascension to leadership was then actually made by the choice of the people. Saul was chosen by God, but didn’t lead till chosen by the people. David was chosen by God years before coming to the throne. He was chosen first by Judah, and then all of Israel. In like manner, Jesus was anointed from birth (remember the wise men seeking the king!) but was chosen on what we refer o as Palm Sunday. Though rejected by Jewish leadership, Pontius Pilate crucified Jesus for what? The official government statement for Jesus ex*****on was of course, “King of the Jews”. So the people chose Jesus and the Roman Empire officially recognized it as fact. Now, to be very clear, I’m not writing today in support of any political idea or opinion. I am mulling over the name of a group, those having “No Kings” rallies. Let’s reiterate, I’m not dealing with any politician or party, I’m wanting you to focus on principalities and powers in the heavenly. In John 12,14 and 16, Jesus calls satan the “prince of this world”and in Ephesians 2, Paul refers to him as the “prince of the power of the air”. Be reminded that Jesus is called the “King of Kings”. At this point, I feel as though I might have just thrown a series of statements on this page without much connective tissue between them. Let’s weave it together now. God has anointed Jesus as King. It is the responsibility of individuals to choose their king. There really can’t be a “No King” decision. The antichrist is arriving soon and those rejecting the reign of Jesus will voluntarily go under the lordship of the devil. Everyone of us will end up living forever with the king we’ve chosen. If you choose the devil, with him you’ll remain for eternity. If Christ Jesus, the same. Let’s think about today what king we’ve chosen to follow and where they’re leading.
