In consonance with the principles and purposes of the Unitarian Universalist Association, we the members and friends of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester covenant to sustain and support a courageous and caring community by:

* Bringing our best selves to form a welcoming, loving, and inclusive community of faith;

* Creating an atmosphere of celebration and worship in

a safe environment;

* Providing opportunities where diverse people and points of view are respected and where open-hearted and open-minded discussion of our differences is encouraged;

* Treating each other with kindness and respect;

* Approaching conflicts with a spirit of humility and with the respectful intent for peaceful resolution;

* Engaging in and encouraging spiritual and intellectual growth across the lifespan;

* Fostering social justice and positive transformation in our community and in the world at large;

* Growing and maintaining the resources necessary to support the missions and ministries of this congregation;

* Fostering fellowship and enjoying each other and the unique gifts that each person brings to our community.

Our very own Music Director Matt Johnsen is a man of many talents!

From sociology and peacebuilding to poetry and public engagement,
Dr. Matthew C. Johnsen’s work reflects a lifelong interest in understanding people, communities, and social change.

As a Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Rotary Peace Fellow Alumnus, he brings academic insight and creative expression together through To Make the World a Better Place: Poems of Hope and Healing.

We're getting new windows in our Lounge!

With funding from a previous gift, the proceeds from our "Turn Up The Lights Gala" last December and from the Nash grant, six new windows went in yesterday and today, September 2, 2026.

The work is being done by Area Glass Company and Davidson Carpentry.

The windows will be 1" wider on each side.

Next week the Lounge will get a new coat of paint. All work will be done by our first service on September 13, 2026!

The Summer Service on August 30, 2026 was "Songs of Peace with Music Director Matt Johnsen. Matt is a Co-Director of Worcester's Peace Choir, as is Nan Gibbons. Matt played the piano today and Nan led the singing.

Eleven peace songs were sung, and Matt gave three readings from his new book "To Make the World a Better Place: POEMS OF HOPE AND HEALING."
