Emmaus City Church

Emmaus City Church Jesus loves Worcester, Massachusetts, and so does Emmaus City Church. He walked with them, talked with them, and stayed with them.

On the road to Emmaus, Jesus met two people who thought He was still dead after being crucified. And at the meal, He broke bread with them - then they realized it was Him. He was alive, resurrected, and bringing new death-defying and relationship-restoring life into God's world. So we intentionally share this good news as we love our neighbors, open our homes, serve those we meet, and share our li

ves with people in our diverse city so that many can experience and enjoy the life God graciously gives through life with Jesus and each other.

God bless you all during this holy Pentecost weekend!

Without the Holy Spirit ...
God is far away,
Christ stays in the past,
the Gospel is a dead letter,
the Church is simply an organization,
authority a matter of propaganda,
liturgy is only nostalgia, and
Christian living a slave of morality.

But with the Holy Spirit ...
God is with us,
the universe is resurrected and
groans with the birth pangs of the Kingdom,
the risen Christ is here,
the Gospel is a living force,
the Church is a community
in the life of the Trinity,
the body of the Living Christ,
authority is a service that liberates people,
mission is Pentecost,
the liturgy is memory and anticipation,
and human action is God’s work in the world.

Church is following Jesus in a way that knows your neighbors’ names, pays attention to your block, shares meals and cups of sugar. It’s grieving losses together, celebrating what’s good, and joining in the renewing work already happening around you. The neighborhood is one of the primary places God is forming us.
