Exemplary Service Awards Honorees

Chief of Police Citation
Hill-O-Ween Community Event
Recipients: James Sullivan, Father John Madden and Officer Sean Lovely

For the past 10 years, these three individuals and their organizations have come together to host the Hill-O-Ween event on Halloween at Worcester Academy. The event has grown every year and has become a tremendous success with more than 4,000 children who attended last year. It is the favorite night of the year for neighborhood kids, featuring generous candy donations. The event’s success is in large part due to the tireless effort and dedication of Father John Madden of St. John’s Catholic Church, James Sullivan, Head Basketball Coach at Worcester Academy, and Worcester Police Officer Sean Lovely, a founder of the event. Their commitment to the community deserves recognition.

Our parish family and the Diocese of Worcester suffered a significant loss this week with the passing of Fr. Conrad Pecevich.

He had a full and active priesthood which included ministry in several areas. We were blessed that in his ”retirement,” at least from administrative responsibility, he came to Temple Street to minister to us by both word and
example. We offer sincere condolences to his family, especially his sister, Rita, a member of our family at St. John’s.
