The town of Woolwich along the coast of Maine is rich in history that dates back to 1638. Laurel Grove Cemetery is located in the hamlet known as Woolwich Center. Situated in the geographical center of the town this hamlet was once the area where many came to worship in the Baptist church, brought their shoes to the local cobbler, and decided the future of the town in its little townhouse circa 1837.
Many of the residents of Woolwich Center rest at Laurel Grove. They were farmers, fishermen, soldiers, seafaring merchants, missionaries, physicians, and entrepreneurs. They were stalwart families with grit and determination. They helped to build this beautiful coastal town.
Our goal, as the caretakers of Laurel Grove, is to bring the stories of these individuals to life. To remember them, to honor them, and continue to maintain their final resting place with the respect and reverence they deserve.
