Tuesday Devotional: Colossian 3:23-24
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Throughout the years that I have been here on earth, there are many things that I have had to do. Chores and activities that I have not necessarily enjoyed doing. Many that I would put off until the last moment that it needed to be done. I remember as a kid when it was my turn to do certain chores, I would not do them with a happy face full of joy. And now as an adult, I often feel the same way about the same chores.
But in his letter to the Colossians, the apostle Paul reminds us that everything we do here on earth should be done for the glory of God, and not for ourselves or other earthly reasons. We are meant to be in service throughout our lives. In service to God and in service to His people. So instead of putting off those jobs that we don't like to do, we need to look at them, and see how they can be done to serve and honor God and to serve and honor people, putting our whole heart into the work and showing God’s love through everything we do.

May meal for the seniors at Rich Manor and in town was meatloaf, roasted potatoes, peas and carrots, with peanut butter creme cheese pie for dessert. It is an enjoyable time working together to help others.

We had a PERFECT day for a Hot Dog sale to benefit the Shoe Bank of Clinton County. Thanks to all who purchased a dog or a drink or a treat. The "Hot Dog Man" grilled hot dogs have become a legend of the Woolrich Community Yard Sale, so look for us next year and the organization or individual we choose to support.

Tuesday Devotional: Proverbs 16:3
3 commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

A few years ago, I was reading a devotional book when I read the words, "Keep returning your focus to Jesus". There was a lot going on in my life, and a lot going on in the world at that time, but it reminded me that none of what was happening was about my plans, or what I want my plans to be.
Too often we get caught up in where we see things going in our lives, and we forget that the Lord may have different plans for us. Plans that in the end will turn out much better if we commit to following Jesus, and allowing the Lord to lead us to where we need to be.
For many that may feel like surrendering control, but it is really just a daily refocus of where we are being led. God will get us through anything that is thrown at us, and we will be stronger on the other side.
We don't know God’s plans for us in the long term, but we do know that they can be trusted. So, open yourselves up to the Lord, and see where it takes you.

Tuesday Devotional: 1 Peter 3:16b-17
Keep your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who abuse you for your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame. 17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if suffering should be God’s will, than to suffer for doing evil.

Suffering is never a word we welcome. We avoid it, resist it, and hope it never comes near our lives. We want joy, comfort, and days filled with good things. Even in church, we sometimes hope the message will lift us up without asking anything difficult of us. We don’t want to hear about hardship. We don’t want to think about pain.
But suffering is part of life. No matter how faithfully we live, there will be moments when things don’t go our way. There will be people who misunderstand us, dislike us, or even try to tear us down. There is real skepticism, real hostility, and real spiritual opposition in the world. And sometimes, it lands on us.
Peter doesn’t pretend otherwise. Instead, he tells us how to stand firm when it happens. He urges us to keep our conscience clear and to stay rooted in Christ, to continue doing what is right, even when it is costly. If suffering comes because we are following Jesus, then that suffering is not meaningless. It becomes part of our witness.
When we choose the way of Christ, even when the world pushes back, our faith becomes unmistakably real. Our integrity speaks louder than any accusation, and our perseverance becomes a testimony that cannot be silenced.
