Tomorrow we’re in week two of our series BURDEN: Seeing People the Way God Does.

Last week we looked at a parable Jesus told to a room full of religious people who were grumbling about the wrong kind of crowd showing up around him. We asked a hard question: When you see a lost person, do you see what the shepherd sees or what the Pharisees see?

This week we move to Romans 9 & 10. What we find there is some of the most love we see in Paul’s writing.

He says he carries great sorrow and unceasing anguish in his heart for people who don’t know Jesus. He says his heart’s desire is for their salvation.

Most of us have never felt anything close to that for anyone.

That gap between what Paul feels and what most of us feel is exactly what we’re looking at tomorrow… We’ll address honest questions about what’s missing and where it comes from.

Also… WHO’S YOUR ONE?

The lost sheep story is our story. Every one of us. If you are saved, you were lost. He pursued us, not because we deserved it or cleaned ourselves up, but while we were still wandering. Our complaints about who He lets in don't make sense when we remember He came after us.

Pharisees and scribes, devout men who loved God and scripture, grumbled when they saw Jesus gathering tax collectors and sinners. Their love for the law had curdled into contempt for those who didn't keep it.

What would it look like to actually carry a burden for the people in your life who don't know Jesus?

Not feeling bad about it occasionally... Not thinking about it when it comes up... We're talking about actually carrying it.

This week's message is about a man in Scripture who did. And what he felt is unlike almost anything else in the New Testament.

We're continuing our "BURDEN" series. Our goal is to learn to see people the way Jesus does.

Imagine being judged for not belonging, for not being 'clean' enough. This message challenges us: God doesn't need us to guard His sanctuary. He needs us to love His sheep, no matter what.

When Jesus's message of radical inclusion is met with grumbling about the guest list, something is deeply wrong within us. If heaven is celebrating, why are we complaining about who's invited? It's a challenge to our own hearts.

Most of us want to tell people about Jesus. We just don't know how to start the conversation without it getting awkward.

This July, Dogwood Hills is hosting a four-week class on Sunday afternoons to help with exactly that. No pressure tactics. No scripted speeches. Just a simple, natural way to talk about your faith in everyday conversations.

We'll meet Sundays in July from 4 to 6 PM, and we'll eat together before each session.

If you've ever wanted to share your faith but talked yourself out of it, this is for you.
