Just a reminder, the UK YAGM program is a GREAT place to spend your extra summer babysitting cash. These young adults have a phenomenal opportunity to accompany while joining the YAGM legacy that is celebrating almost twenty years this year and every little bit of financial backing helps.

Hiya all!

It’s that time of year again: temperatures are rising, graduations are happening, summer plans are being made and this August’s YAGM are committing to the program and their sites.

We have several new UK YAGM coming to you this year, something that we are truly excited about.

As a reminder, this takes financial support. The ELCA spends about $15,000 PER PARTICIPANT to make the YAGM program run smoothly, in country and with support Stateside.

Each participant is asked to raise $5,000.

For many of us, that feels like a big ask!

We ask that you prayerfully consider supporting the YAGM program as a whole or specific individuals using the link below. It’s a phenomenal opportunity to be a part of a great program with a phenomenal mission!

After a weekend of DIP with the TfG AND YAGM, we can officially introduce the ‘19-‘20 UKYAGM cohort! This incredible group of people is going to have such an impact on the UK and we are thrilled by this brilliant cohort.

This is a tiny taste of the YAGMS coming in, who will be serving from ‘19-‘20. They bring open hearts, sharp minds and big dreams for themselves and the world. Tomorrow they will be finding out their country placements and we will have a new UKYAGM cohort!

This weekend, starting tomorrow, YAGM candidates will be gathering to discern, be interviewed, and receive placements in different countries throughout the world for the next year. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 2 years since I was in their place, April 20th-23rd, 2017, but I remember what a crazy whirlwind that weekend was. So just hold all the YAGM candidates in your prayers.

Greetings from the UK YAGM Alum team! As Spring is officially here, many of us our thinking about our time in DIP almost two years ago. Two years ago, over 100 people gathered outside of Chicago to pray, discern, interview and quite frankly stress about what the future would hold. Some of us were ecstatic to get a call to the UK, some of us were heartbroken. Most of us would do it all again because of the value of the experience that we had through the UK YAGM program. As those April dates (the 11th-14th) approach, keep the future YAGM in your thoughts. It can be a scary time but also one full of excitement and wonder as well.

Alumni calls are happening! This is the first connection point that is made with those who have eagerly applied to this year’s YAGM program. As we begin conversations with these hopeful future YAGMs, it is exciting to know that the UK will have a cohort again this year. Keep the ‘19-‘20 individuals in your hearts and prayers as this exciting (and sometimes daunting!) discernment process takes off.

Happy New Year from the ‘17-‘18 UK cohort! Last year, most of us rang in the new year together in London. Two of the YAGM led us in song and another encouraged us to choose a word or phrase of intention for the following months. This year, we are scattered around a different continent but have been thinking about choosing other words to use for the next 361 days. They are meant to be words of intention, of hope, of promise. My word for this year is ‘communion.’ What is yours?
