Reflection by Judith Taylor
“Reaching/Home”
The 17th C Japanese poet, Matsuo Basho wrote: Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home. We're all pilgrims, meant to learn from everything and everyone we encounter. Where is your path leading you?
Judith Taylor's work as a writer and visual artist reflects her interest in how the energy and mystery of the creative process may inform our life.

This service will not be recorded.

The Heart of Healing
Reflection by Jeannie Lindheim

Hospital clowns are very different from regular clowns. They are gentle, empower patients, give choices, and always ask permission. Jeannie Lindheim went to Russia with Patch Adams in 1996 and founded a hospital clown school in Boston in 1997. She wrote a training program that was sold in 23 countries. Jeannie will share some valuable techniques that YOU can use in your life and tell some heart-felt stories of her interactions with children and adults.
Jeannie Lindheim has taught acting, movement, improvisation, creativity, auditioning, and characterization techniques for thirty years at a variety of educational institutions including The Boston Conservatory, Wheelock College, Boston University, and other universities.
She has acted professionally and holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of California and a Master of Fine Arts from Brandeis University. Jeannie’s website is www.center4creativity.org.

Reflection by Rev. Leon Dunkley
"The Joining of the Waters"
Join us this Sunday for North Chapel’s Water Communion Service. As we begin another year together, we reflect on the special places in our lives, places that bring us peace and joy. We reflect on the sources of water that nourish those places and we remember how we feel when we are there. If we can muster the magic (and you know we will), we can join these waters together. Join us!
If you have water that you would like to bring to contribute to the service, by all means bring it, but we will have some ready for you if you don’t.

Reflection by Rev. Leon Dunkley
“Gardens of Strength, Grace and Heritage”
Summer changes the outer landscape of our lives. Grace changes the landscape of the soul. Strength, grace and heritage allow both of these gardens to grow. Earth is teaching us now. Sun and sky are asking us to flower…and we are ready (because we are beautiful) to face the challenges of our day - the volcano in Guatemala and the burning mountain of the soul; the fires in Spokane, Washington and the ceremonial fires of spirit; the light of truth that pushes back against darkest and deep sorrow. Through it all, we still choose to flower…beautifully.

Sunday's Service at North Chapel: “Go to the Woods”
Reflections by Mary Blanton, John McHugh and Richard Waddell
What is your relationship with the natural world? Are you merely an observer or do you engage with the natural world? Do you observe the natural world through a window or do you take a walk and look at the spring flowers or smell the autumn leaves? Are you a tree hugger or a peak bagger? Mary Blanton, John McHugh and Richard Waddell will share reading and stories about their personal relationships with the living world.

Reflection by Rev. Leon Dunkley
“The Fire of Thought”
Henry David Thoreau went into the woods to discover the fire of thought. “The fire of thought” is what Ralph Waldo Emerson believed was required for a good sermon. Plato believed that this was required for a good life. What does it mean to discover the fire thought? How does it help us today in Woodstock? …today in Houston? …today in Biddeford, Maine?

The North Chapel Sunday services start at 10 am. The reflections will usually be recorded and on our YouTube channel when they are available here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCTYQzZPo3-aJcKRLMHqI5w.

North Chapel, also known as the North Universalist Chapel Society, is located at 7 Church Street in Woodstock, VT. Our website: https://www.northchapelvt.org/. Administrative Assistant - Joanne Boyle. We are a welcoming congregation. Join us!
