KARMA TRIYANA DHARMACHAKRA (KTD) is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery beautifully situated in the heart of the Catskill Mountains above Woodstock, New York. It is the North American monastic seat of His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje, the spiritual head of the Karma Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Chökor Duchen commemorates Buddha Shakyamuni's first teaching after achieving enlightenment. The Nyungne practice is centered on the Bodhisattva Chenrezik, and unfolds over several days. Performing Nyungne during Chökor Duchen is believed to multiply merit many thousands of times over, making it one of the most powerful purification practices in Vajrayana Buddhism for cleansing negative karma and cultivating compassion for all sentient beings.
