For Christians, knowing and trusting in Jesus is essential. The Bible, understood as God’s self revelation and Holy Word is instrumental for our life with Jesus. But as central as the Bible is for Christian faith and discipleship, it is often very intimidating. Many Christians don’t read their bibles because they might become confused very quickly when they open up its pages and encounter many different types of writings and in a time and place that feels distant from our own. But at its heart, the Bible is a story told across many centuries and across different genres of literature. Having a better understanding, however, of the central story which is revealed across the whole of the Bible and how it points is to God in Jesus can help us encounter God’s word in a fresh and life giving way where we can leave our confusion behind. Starting September 13, our adult Sunday school class will be learning the large story of the Bible to better inhabit that living story ourselves as disciples of a Jesus. With Bible scholars Craig G. Bartholomew and Paige p. Vonosky as our guides in their most helpful and accessible book “The 30 minute Bible: God’s Story for Everyone,” we will rejoice not only in the select passages of the Bible we have learned over the years but become well acquainted with the Whole Story of God’s Word in scripture. Join us Sundays at 10am as we get back to the basics with the full story of God for everyone.
