Trust grows over time, through the small choices to surrender what we are holding onto, to lay down our own plans and lean into His, to keep believing even when we cannot see what He is doing.
And here is what we find every time we do: He is faithful. Not occasionally, not when it is convenient, but consistently and in ways that are often far better than what we had hoped for ourselves. Every answered prayer, every moment He carried us through something we could not carry ourselves, becomes a stone of remembrance that we can look back on and say, "He was faithful then, and He will be faithful now."
There is also a freedom that comes with surrender that is hard to put into words until you have experienced it. Letting go of the weight of trying to figure it all out and placing it into the hands of the One who loves us perfectly, who sees what we cannot see, and who desires what is best for us and those we love, is not defeat. It is wisdom. It is peace. It is rest.
The more we walk with God, the more we discover that surrender is not about losing control. It is about learning that He is far more trustworthy than our fears, our plans, and our understanding.
