Sometimes the most encouraging praise is what a doctor did not find.

Every week, people gather at Church of Covenant Blessings for prayer meeting, bringing real needs before the Lord. These are two answers from last Friday, and both of them involve a test that came back clear.

A woman had been dealing with hip pain, and an MRI had been scheduled to look into it further. Since prayer was lifted for her healing, her hip is feeling fine, with no more pain, and the MRI has been canceled altogether.

Another young man had a doctor suspect inflamed intestines and scheduled a scope to check for any signs of it. The church prayed specifically that he would be healed and that the doctor would not find anything. He had his scope done, and the doctor's report was good. Nothing showed up at all.

Two scans that never had to happen, or that found nothing when they did. Both are answers to prayer.

These answers came because people brought these needs before the Lord at prayer meeting. That is what happens when we come together and pray. If you have a need of your own, or someone you love is carrying one, come bring it before the Lord with us.

Positions of Prayer

"I hear the prayers of all people but some prayers are prayers of power and some are merely words spoken. Repetitious words and empty phrases bring no power and do not move our hearts of love and mercy, but prayer is more than words.

The power of prayer is seen by the position of prayer. Men debate on what position of prayer is most acceptable unto my Father and unto me. Some insist that only prayers spoken upon your knees or prostrate before us have power, while other men say that the position of the body has no influence upon the power of prayer.

Being bowed before us is only a position of power if your heart worships and if your heart is contrite and broken. I hear all prayers, and I hear your prayers when you bow, when you sit, lie down, walk, or when you drive your car. Words directed unto my throne are always heard.

Of all the positions of prayer which one is the most powerful? Is there a position that is one of greater power? Prayers should be spoken from a position of reverence but the position of your body is not the power of prayer. The power of prayer is the condition of your heart and your position in the light of heaven.

If you walk in muted light your bowed position does not bring more power than the prayer of a faithful man who speaks to me as he sits in his chair. You are to pray at least three times each day upon your knees and upon your knees with lifted hands is a position of power, but your position in the light matters more than the position of your body.

Men bow and worship false gods so bowing before me does not make your prayer powerful. Some still seek to use eloquent words, but your words are not the power of prayer.

Your position in the light is the position of prayer. The closer you are unto me the more your thoughts and words will bring forth the power and mercy of heaven. Remove the darkness and the barriers and draw close unto me.

I desire you to come with reverence and a true heart of worship but the position of prayer needs to be within our light. We hear the prayer of the lost sinner and we have mercy, but the power of intercessory prayer and life changing prayer is found in your position in the light.

Call on the power of my name and my blood to remove all barriers and go deeper into my light and come nigh unto me. Let your prayers have great power and stay in our presence. Be broken and humble and go deeper into my light and I shall hear and I shall answer." -Jesus

Walking in righteousness prepares the ground of our lives for something God desires to grow within us. As we yield to His instruction, receive His correction, and choose to walk in His will and His ways, seeds are being planted. We begin to see His goodness more clearly, recognize His hand in our lives, and experience the happiness that comes from walking closely with Him.

But a seed is only the beginning. The more we walk with God, the more we come to know Him. We learn His character, His heart, His mind, and His ways. We see His faithfulness through experience, and what began as seeds of happiness begins to take deeper root within us.

Over time, those seeds increase to a harvest of joy. It is a joy grounded in knowing who God is. Circumstances may change and difficult seasons may come, but our knowledge of His goodness and faithfulness remains. We know He is with us. We know His ways are right. We know He will remain faithful.

The furrows of righteousness are therefore not empty ground. Every choice to walk in God's ways is cultivating a life in which He can bring forth something greater. What begins as seeds of happiness can, through a life continually walked with Him, become a deep and lasting harvest of joy.

Waiting is one of the hardest things God asks of us. Not because it requires great effort, but because it requires great trust. To wait on the Lord is to resist the urge to force a resolution, to fight the pull toward anxiety and doubt, and to keep believing even when nothing around you has changed yet.

But waiting on God is never passive. While you wait, you pray. While you wait, your faith grows. You bring your petitions before Him, you trust His promises, and you keep seeking His will with a faith that does not waver. The wait itself is doing something in you that the answer alone could not.

And He does not leave you empty-handed in the waiting. He strengthens your heart. Not after it's over, but while you are in it.

Wait on the Lord. He is faithful, and His love and timing are perfect.

A man recovering from a serious infection had been praying to finally leave rehab. That day recently came. A woman in physical therapy learned she may finish weeks earlier than expected. A man facing melanoma had clear scans come back, with more treatment still ahead. A young child took his first bite of solid food. A woman is finally seeing relief from ongoing stomach problems.

God is still with us in the journey, one small step at a time. Whatever you are facing, you are not carrying it alone.

There are moments when we come before the Lord and we know we are not worthy. Not worthy to speak His name, to call upon Him, to even utter a word. The weight of what we have done, or left undone, sits heavy, and the distance between who we are and who He is feels very wide.

And yet we come anyway. Because there is nowhere else to go, and because the door has not been closed to us. That is the miracle of what forgiveness actually is. It is not earned by reaching a certain level of worthiness or getting everything right first. It begins with realization. Realization of where we have fallen short, realization of how much we need Him, and realization of who Jesus is and what He has done on our behalf. When those three things come together in a humble and honest heart, forgiveness is not far off. It is one prayer away.

This is the goodness of God. He does not require us to have it all figured out before we come to Him. He requires a repentant spirit, a genuine sorrow for what has separated us from Him, and a sincere desire to do better. That is the prayer He receives. That is what moves His heart. And when we come to Him that way, we find that He was already waiting.
