Copied Devotion this morning. Our Pastor has been preaching through the book of Nehemiah and this devotion hit me this morning. Don’t stop building when it’s quiet. That’s the time to prepare for the battle.

BUILD WHEN THE BATTLE'S QUIET
Times of peace are so wonderful, aren’t they? We love it, we relish in it, but we may misuse this time that is absent of chaos or increased stress. What do I mean by “misuse” in these times of peace? Well, it’s easy to kick back and do nothing while there is calmness in your life. But in order to grow in your usefulness with God, you'll need to learn how to use times of peace for His will and His Kingdom!

King Asa was wise when he chose to build fortified cities during times of peace. He didn’t wait for the next war to prepare for it. He used the time of peace to strengthen the people, build up walls, and get ready. That’s wisdom. In times of rest, we can be tempted to take it easy, to relax, to coast, but sometimes the quiet seasons in life are meant for rebuilding. It’s a time to rally the troops and prepare for what’s next.

You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to take your spiritual life seriously. If God has given you rest in a particular area right now, ask Him what He wants you to build. You can start right now. You can dig deeper into the Word, get your prayer life in order, reconnect with fellow believers in Christ, or become more intentional in your relationships. Because when the battle comes, and it will, it’s too late. You don’t want to be scrambling. You want to be standing on something solid. King Asa used the time well, and so can we.

“Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.”
‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭14‬:‭7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

GUIDED PRAYER:

God, thank You for the quiet seasons. Help me not to waste them. Show me what to build in my life right now so I can be stronger for whatever comes next. I want to be ready, not caught off guard. Give me the discipline to act even when things feel calm.

Amen.
