This is so powerful and true! From Brian Simmons:
The fires of God are not optional for a people who were created to burn.
We were never meant to survive on dead religion, polished Christian language, and familiar clichés that sound spiritual but carry no flame. We were made for holy fire. We were made for encounter. We were made to be awakened by the One whose beauty is terrifying, tender, mysterious, magnificent, and altogether consuming.
God's word says, “For our God is a holy, devouring fire!” (Hebrews 12:29 TPT). This is not the fire of rejection. This is the fire of divine love. It is the fire that purifies what is false, awakens what is asleep, and consumes everything in us that competes with wholehearted surrender.
God is not inviting us into a cold, distant, religious routine. He is inviting us into an intense love relationship with Himself. The most awesome, intriguing, mysterious, and fascinating Being in the universe wants to be known. He wants to be encountered. He wants our hearts, not merely our habits. He wants surrender, not performance. He wants lovers, not spectators.
Romans 12:11 TPT says, “Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let him fill you with excitement as you serve him.” That is the life we were created for: passion boiling hot, hearts radiant with the Holy Spirit, lives laid down in love.
This is the all-consuming fire. It is the fire that attracts the soul and fastens itself to the deepest places within us. It devours compromise, fear, apathy, pride, and every lesser love that tries to steal the throne of our affection. It burns, but it heals. It consumes, but it frees. It confronts, but it does so with the fierce mercy of holy love.
Song of Songs 8:6 TPT says, “Fasten me upon your heart as a seal of fire forevermore. This living, consuming flame will sThe fires of God are not optional for a people who were created to burn.

Burn away everything that keeps me from loving You with all that I am.
May we never settle for a form of Christianity that has language without love, activity without surrender, or doctrine without fire. May the Holy Spirit ignite our passion again. May our hearts become altars. May our lives become offerings. May we meet with Him in the fires of holiness and discover that the One who consumes us is the One who loves us beyond measure.
