✨ Christ is Among Us! ✨
On the Sunday of Pentecost, Bishop Kurt Burnette celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church in Philadelphia in honor of the 135th Anniversary of the parish community.
“Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, everywhere present and filling all things, Treasury of Blessings and Giver of Life, come and dwell within us, cleanse us of all stain, and save our souls, O gracious One.”
For 135 years, the faithful of Holy Ghost Parish have witnessed to the beauty of the Byzantine Catholic Faith in Philadelphia through prayer, worship, and devotion to Christ and His Church.

🕊️ “We have seen the true light. We have received the heavenly Spirit.”
On the radiant feast of Pentecost, St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in New York City rejoiced as Linus Drembelas received the Holy Mystery of Chrismation and Leon Schwartz received the Holy Mysteries of Initiation under the pastoral care of Rev. Edward Cimbala.
As the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, so too does the Spirit continue to call souls into the fullness of the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Faith.
Christ is among us! The Church is alive. 🔥

Bishop Kurt Burnette recently visited the Eparchy of Mukachevo in a beautiful witness of faith, solidarity, and prayer.
During his visit, he toured the Uzhhorod Greek Catholic Theological Academy and the Catholic Lyceum “TheoBend,” meeting with seminarians, students, and clergy who continue to serve faithfully with hope and courage.
Bishop Kurt also prayed in the crypt at the tomb of Bishop Milan Šašik and offered prayers for the fallen soldiers of Ukraine and all those suffering from the ongoing war. 🇺🇦🙏
May this visit continue to strengthen the bonds of prayer, friendship, and unity between our Churches.

Today, the Church of Passaic celebrates the Ascension of Our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ into Heaven. (Ascension Thursday) As Christ ascends to the Father, He entrusts His mission to His disciples and fills us with the hope of His promise: “I am with you always.”
"You were taken up in glory, O Christ our God; you gladdened the disciples with the promise of the Holy Spirit. By blessing them, you confirmed that you are the Son of God, and the Redeemer of the World." - Troparion of the Ascension.

Christ is Risen! Today, we offer prayers for all mothers, especially our departed mothers who now rest in the mercy of the Lord, and for all who mourn them. We also remember those who await the gift of motherhood through birth or adoption, and those who carry the cross of infertility. Through the prayers of the Theotokos, may the Risen Christ grant comfort, strength, and abiding hope to all.

Professor of Religion and Director of the Catholic Studies Program at Seton Hall University Ines Angeli Murzaku, Ph.D., has published a new book, Light from the East: The Catholic Eastern Churches Sixty Years After Vatican II.
Among its contributors is Father Thomas P. Shubeck, Ph.D., adjunct professor of Pastoral Theology and a priest of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Passaic, who serves at the College Seminary of the Immaculate Conception School of Theology.

Ines Angeli Murzaku, Ph.D., professor and director Catholic Studies Program at Seton Hall, has published a new book, "Light from the East: The Catholic Eastern Churches Sixty Years After Vatican II."
