Which Side Are You On - A Look Into Labor Relations

The US has a rich union labor history. Come explore a bit of it's history, learn about the power of many, and how a balanced approach to labor relations can help us in our day to day interactions.

During the service, Children, Youth, and Families Programming provides childcare and enrichment for children ages 3 months to 12 years. This week we will be learning about the importance of working together as we complete a collaborative art project and discuss Labor Day. We will have two elementary classes starting this Sunday. Join us for interactive in-person and online community service on Sunday, August 30

Jacob Johns, joins us to share four years of walking into rooms of a multilateral system that has lost its way, and to carry forward a vision for where we go next. Wisdom Keepers Delegation is strengthening a global network, already loosely connected, that brings world traditions together in community and ceremony for the future of humanity. Speaking from the traditions of our people, Jacob draws on Akimel O'otham and Hopi teachings that have endured far longer than the institutions now failing around us, teachings rooted in reciprocity with the land and in the understanding that the wisdom we carry never depended on the systems that ignore it. Jacob brings a message of rebirth: seeds planted in hard soil, hidden knowledge returning as light after the longest night.

During the service, Children, Youth, and Families Programming provides childcare and enrichment for children ages 3 months to 12 years. This week we will be planting seeds as we talk about our hopes for the new school year. We will also hold a Blessing of the Backpacks ritual during the Time For All Ages. All young people as well as educators and school staff are invited to bring their backpack or school bag to participate in the ritual.

Disability and Holiness By Rachel Eddy & Amy Robertson

With our limited human perspective, we are often quick to describe those with all kinds of disabilities in terms of their limitations. However, like most differences in how we move through this world, disability has the potential to teach valuable lessons about both our own nature and the nature of the interconnected web that ties our world together. Amy Robertson and Rachel Eddy will explore some of those lessons through the insights passed down in our six sources of wisdom.

During the service, Children, Youth, and Families Programming provides childcare and enrichment for children ages 3 months to 12 years. This week we will celebrate our different strengths as well as when we need help from others as we complete an obstacle course.

Unitarian Universalism is sometimes referred to as "The Living Tradition" because we UUs generally hold that revelation (i.e., truth, wisdom, knowledge) is not sealed, but continuous. We tend to agree that growth and learning are always accessible to us, and new insights are always being revealed. Let's consider how our Living Tradition has evolved over time, and what it means for us to be the holders of that tradition today.

During the service, Children, Youth, and Families Programming provides childcare and enrichment for children ages 3 months to 12 years. This week we will try out different paper airplane designs as a metaphor for the Living Tradition of our faith that changes and grows with new understandings.

Music has a way of bringing us all together and this Sunday service is all about celebrating that connection. Join us for "Jubilant Sounds!", a joyful celebration of the music that enriches our community with a wide variety of musical offerings. An entire service of music not to be missed!

This week we will be doing a service project in partnership with the ASJ offering. We will make wildflower seed cans that we will then sell after the service, with all proceeds benefiting Arms Around You.

Don't Try to Change the World: A Case for Small Ministries (Take 2)

If we focus too much on the big things beyond our ability to change, we set ourselves up for disappointment and burnout. But if we focus our efforts to be in closer proximity to us, we have a greater chance at making an impact.

During the service, Children, Youth, and Families Programming provides childcare and enrichment for children ages 3 months to 12 years. This week we will continue to discuss how we can make a difference in the world by taking care of the earth. We will do a litter walk around the church to pick up any garbage that we see.

Practicing Citizenship - UU Perspectives on America's 250th Anniversary

As America celebrates 250 years since the proclamation of the Declaration of Independence, we have the unique opportunity to reflect on what it means to practice "citizenship" while rooted in our UU values and principles. America has a Bill of Rights to protect us from government interference. But should we also consider a Bill of Obligations - what citizens owe one another and our country to allow our democracy to endure and deliver what it can and should to its citizens?

During the service, Children, Youth, and Families Programming provides childcare and enrichment for children ages 3 months to 12 years. This week we will be discussing how our UU faith calls us to be good citizens. We will make junk sculptures out of recycled materials as a way to be good citizens by taking care of the earth and reducing waste.
