For our Shabbat service on 12/28/24 we will be continuing our study in Matthew 12 with verse 25. For those of you who are interested in Jewish Roots but have never kept the Holidays that Jesus kept you might want to read Jesus's visit to the Temple on Hanukkah retold by John in his Gospel, Chapter 10. Yes, Jesus went to the Temple in Jerusalem to celebrate Hanukkah, which is also known as the Feast of Dedication. It's really easy to keep a Hanukkah observance...all you need are 8 candles...and a little guide book. This one is my favorite. This year Hanukkah starts after sundown on December 25th...have fun!

This next Shabbat, we will continue to work our way through the 12th Chapter of Matthew's Gospel. Tackling an often miss-taught "I desire mercy, and not sacrifice" saying by Jesus. Outside of a Jewish context this passage leaves most believers with an inaccurate view of the Temple and it's sacrifices. We will address that issue in it's proper context. Then we will, again find ourselves discussing the issue of healing on Shabbat, and where those restrictions came from and the correct view on the subject. Come join us. This week we will be moving into Matthew Chapter 12 beginning with a teaching on "Jesus, Lord of the Sabbath." This is probably one of the most misunderstood group of passages in the N.T. within mainstream Christianity. Again, it is imperative to have a biblical perspective that takes into account, the time, context, language and culture of the audience of that time. Without that perspective, you are left with the early church father's anti-Semitic and anti-Judaism bias that is the basis of most teachings in the church today. We have finally moved on to Matthew Chapter 11. We are learning so many insights from the Jewish Roots teachings of this Gospel. It amazes me every week how much more depth, insight and correct understanding we are accumulating in this study. Unlearning false teachings and replacing them with the intent of the original context. Join us on our journey of uncovering our "Jewish" Messiah and his teachings.
