The Woodbury Friends Meeting is a member of the Religious Society of Friends, also known as the Quakers. The Woodbury Meeting is the oldest continuously meeting religious organization in New Jersey that hasn’t changed denominations. The meeting is known as a “monthly meeting” because local Quaker meetings tend to hold their business meeting at least once a month, however most meetings worship week

ly. Any and all are welcome to meet for worship. “First Day” school starts at 10 am on Sundays, taking the form of a lesion/discussion for the adults and a class for any children present. The worship is “un-programed”, meaning that there is no sermon or central speaker. We sit quietly for an hour, but if one feels moved to speak they are encouraged to do so. This weekend 9 Woodbury Friends participated in the TriQuarter Gathering at the lovely Camp Ockanickon aka YMCA of the Pines. The weekend was filled with games, a square dance, ice cream social, workshops, a nature walk, canoeing, camp fires and sing alongs, children’s activities, arts and crafts, an art show, poetry jam and live music, and hay rides! Did I leave something out? Yes, a star party with the local astronomy group and a mixer for the young adults. The food at the Ocky Dining Hall was delicious and everyone enjoyed the fire in the huge stone fireplace. Old friends from the three Quaker quarters reunited, new friends were met, memories made! We are already looking forward to next year. If this sounds like fun please come check out Woodbury Friends and join us for TriQuarter in 2024!
