Last Sunday’s Sermon Summarized:
FORGED: IDENTITY.FORMATION.MISSION — Identity (Ephesians 1:3–14) teaches that God is actively forging His people, not destroying them but shaping them through grace into who they were always meant to be. Like metal in a blacksmith’s fire, believers are formed with intentional purpose. The fire is preparation, not punishment; the goal is a life shaped for God’s mission.
Big Idea:
Ephesians 1:3–14 reveals who we are in Christ, forms us by grace, and sends us on mission. This truth is meant to shape our thinking, stir our hearts, and move us into action.
Paul presents five core Identity Markers:
1. Blessed in Christ — We already possess every spiritual blessing. We live from abundance, not striving for approval.
2. Chosen and Adopted — God chose us before creation and brought us into His family. We belong and live with confidence, holiness, and love.
3. Redeemed and Forgiven — Through Jesus, we are freed from sin and shame. Forgiven people extend grace and live in freedom.
4. Part of God’s Cosmic Plan — We are included in God’s mission to unite all things in Christ. Our lives participate in His restoration of the world.
5. Sealed by the Spirit — The Holy Spirit secures our future, empowers our present, and marks us as God’s own. We live with courage, assurance, and hope.
Conclusion:
Believers are forged: blessed, chosen, redeemed, and sealed—not for comfort but for kingdom purpose. Identity leads to formation, and formation leads to mission. When we truly live from who we are in Christ, we become people of confidence, generosity, forgiveness, and love sent into the world for God’s glory.
Core Call:
Live from your identity. Be shaped by grace. Step into the mission. You are forged for kingdom impact.
