Covenant Presbyterian Church, Woodbridge, Virginia

Covenant Presbyterian Church, Woodbridge, Virginia A loving church home in Prince William County, Virginia, that values hands-on ministry. We ask ourselves: Is this what life is all about? We want community.

**Join us in person Sundays at 10 am!**

Living in the Northern Virginia suburbs is a challenge. So many of us commute to jobs, work long hours, come home to a list of things that need immediate attention, let alone meals, home responsibilities and activities. By the end of the day all we want to do is watch a few minutes of television, go to sleep and begin the same routine again tomorrow hoping

for better emotional returns. Weekends become a time of trying to catch up on the to-do list and sleep (if all goes well). Do this for very long and life begins to feel like a shell of what it was meant to be. Is this why I exist in this time and this place? Most of us want to feel like we have purpose and meaning. On better days, we really do want purposeful connection with others. We want to know people who know our names and with whom we can joke, laugh and share concerns with. We want connections. Covenant Presbyterian Church is such a place. You will hear from people like you who are real and who know that God loves each and every one of us. You will get insight and encouragement on how to better put that love into practice. You will come away with thoughts and prayers to carry you through the hectic week that you will most likely have. If you have kids from nursery to high school, they too will learn also of God’s love for them. At Covenant, you will find a thriving Church community that welcomes you with open arms, a hands-on ministry that serves our hectic world, and an inspiring worship team that glorifies God! At Covenant, we are a Church Connected, Nourished and Living Our Faith! You are always welcome to explore...with no pressure of any kind!

Leviticus 8:1–13, 30–36 (NRSV)
1 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
2 “Take Aaron and his sons with him, the vestments, the anointing-oil, the bull of sin-offering, the two rams, and the basket of unleavened bread;
3 and assemble the whole congregation at the entrance of the tent of meeting.”
4 And Moses did as the LORD commanded him. When the congregation was assembled at the entrance of the tent of meeting,
5 Moses said to the congregation, “This is what the LORD has commanded to be done.”
6 Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward, and washed them with water.
7 He put the tunic on him, fastened the sash around him, clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod on him. He then put the decorated band of the ephod around him, tying the ephod to him with it.
8 He placed the breastpiece on him, and in the breastpiece he put the Urim and the Thummim.
9 And he set the turban on his head, and on the turban, in front, he set the golden ornament, the holy crown, as the LORD commanded Moses.
10 Then Moses took the anointing-oil and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and consecrated them.
11 He sprinkled some of it on the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all its utensils, and the basin and its base, to consecrate them.
12 He poured some of the anointing-oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him, to consecrate him.
13 And Moses brought forward Aaron’s sons, and clothed them with tunics, and fastened sashes around them, and tied head-dresses on them, as the LORD commanded Moses.
30 Then Moses took some of the anointing-oil and some of the blood that was on the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his vestments, and also on his sons and their vestments. Thus he consecrated Aaron and his vestments, and also his sons and their vestments.
31 And Moses said to Aaron and his sons, “Boil the flesh at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and eat it there with the bread that is in the basket of ordination-offerings, as I was commanded, Aaron and his sons shall eat it;
32 and what remains of the flesh and the bread you shall burn with fire.”
33 You shall not go outside the entrance of the tent of meeting for seven days, until the day when your period of ordination is completed. For it will take seven days to ordain you;
34 as has been done today, the Lord has commanded to be done to make atonement for you.
35 You shall remain at the entrance of the tent of meeting day and night for seven days, keeping the Lord’s charge so that you do not die; for so I am commanded.
36 Aaron and his sons did all the things that the LORD commanded through Moses.

These shelves at the ACTS Food Pantry in Dumfries hold the toiletries Covenant members have contributed — simple items that meet real needs. Behind every bottle and bar of soap is a quiet theology: that grace takes tangible form. When we share what we have, we echo Christ’s care for bodies as well as souls.

Thank you to all who bring supplies, and to those who will. Each gift is a small act of mercy that helps restore dignity and hope.

1The Lord summoned Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When any of you bring an offering of livestock to the Lord, you shall bring your offering from the herd or from the flock. 3 “If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you shall offer a male without blemish; you shall bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting, for acceptance on your behalf before the Lord. 4 You shall lay your hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be acceptable on your behalf as atonement for you. 5 The bull shall be slaughtered before the Lord, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall offer the blood, dashing the blood against all sides of the altar that is at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 6 The burnt offering shall be flayed and cut up into its parts. 7 The sons of the priest Aaron shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. 8 Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the parts, with the head and the suet, on the wood that is on the fire on the altar, 9 but its entrails and its legs shall be washed with water. Then the priest shall turn the rest into smoke on the altar as a burnt offering, an offering by fire of pleasing odor to the Lord. Leviticus 1:1-9

Romans 16:17-27
17 I urge you, brothers and sisters, to keep an eye on those who create dissensions and hindrances, in opposition to the teaching that you have learned; avoid them. 18 For such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the simple-minded. 19 For your obedience is known to all; therefore, I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise in what is good and guileless in what is evil. 20 The God of peace will shortly crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
21 Timothy, my coworker, greets you; so do Lucius and Jason and Sosipater, my fellow Israelites.
22 I Tertius, the writer of this letter, greet you in the Lord. 23 Gaius, who is host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer, and our brother Quartus greet you.
Final Doxology
25 Now to God who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages 26 but is now disclosed and through the prophetic writings is made known to all the gentiles, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith 27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever! Amen.

Romans 16:1-16 NRSV
1I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church at Cenchreae, 2 so that you may welcome her in the Lord, as is fitting for the saints, and help her in whatever she may require from you, for she has been a benefactor of many and of myself as well. 3 Greet Prisca and Aquila, my coworkers in Christ Jesus, 4 who risked their necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks but also all the churches of the gentiles. 5 Greet also the church in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert in Asia for Christ. 6 Greet Mary, who has worked very hard for you. 7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Israelites who were in prison with me; they are prominent among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was. 8 Greet Ampliatus, my beloved in the Lord. 9 Greet Urbanus, our coworker in Christ, and my beloved Stachys. 10 Greet Apelles, who is approved in Christ. Greet those who belong to the family of Aristobulus. 11 Greet my fellow Israelite Herodion. Greet those in the Lord who belong to the family of Narcissus. 12 Greet those workers in the Lord, Tryphaena and Tryphosa. Greet the beloved Persis, who has worked hard in the Lord. 13 Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and greet his mother—a mother to me also. 14 Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers and sisters who are with them. 15 Greet Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them. 16 Greet one another with a holy kiss.
