Friends,
I hope you enjoyed our different “sermon” yesterday. I admit I lost it when our rich woman fainted dead away – all the way to the floor! That was not rehearsed that way. I was grateful it wasn’t me trying to get up off the floor. Yay, Julie! And thanks to all those who helped with the skit.
The Rummage Sale netted over $2200. Great work, and thanks to all who helped and all who contributed. When I saw the Fellowship Hall Sunday morning, I was really impressed – all was clean and back to normal.
There is one more informational session about the proposed merger this Wednesday after the Lunch Bunch. Please attend if you still have questions or concerns. Or feel free to contact a member of the Merger Team. Remember the congregational meeting this coming Sunday for your vote on the merger. It is very important that everyone be present. The same process of checking membership and using a paper ballot that you used previously will be used next Sunday.
We celebrated two new babies – Colene Tester has welcomed her 5th Great-Grandchild, Elliot; and Eva Rose, daughter of Amanda and Shawn Huff. God’s grace on these two little ones and their parents.
Charley Hubbard was back in worship after his time in hospital and rehab.
There are concerns also: Jim and Marilyn Holt are looking for a new home after the fire they experienced in July. They continue to live in the Extended Stay Facility in O’Fallon.
Glenda McDonald will have surgery August 15.
Leroy Duncan’s mother Joanne is in hospice care, as that family mourns the death of Leroy’s father John this past week.
Helen Miller has been transferred to hospice care at Rosewood in Alton.
And then our friend Jeanie McCoy , Clerk of Session for CAPC, lost her mother this week. The visitation is Monday 4-7pm at Elias Funeral Home in Bethalto, with the service on Tuesday morning at 10am, at the funeral home.
I encourage all of you to include both congregations in your prayers this week, that God’s purpose and plans for us may be made clear.
Grace and peace, Pastor Carol
