Anglican worship in Wolfeboro, the Oldest Summer Resort in America, dates back to the days of Colonial Governor John Wentworth, who held services in his home on the shores of what he called "Winnipiscohet Lake" in 1769. Ended by the American Revolution, Episcopal worship returned in 1888 and was taken over by the Rev. Wil

liam Emery of the Sanbornville parish in 1890, establishing a firm relationship between the congregations. In the early 1940's a vacant community church building was used for services. The first parish-owned building was bought in 1944, the year All Saints' was admitted as a mission under Bishop Dallas. Some 225 years following its origin, 1994 marked the 50th official year of the congregation. The first parish building, the former Parker home, was sold in 1958, and ground was broken for the current church on All Saints' Day that year. The new building, designed by noted Norwegian architect, Gustav Hagen, was completed in time for Bishop Hall to lead the first service in the building on All Saints' day in 1959. It has been the the site of Diocesan Conventions in 1972 and 1986, the latter Bishop Theuner's first convention in New Hampshire. The Parish has a lively outreach ministry to the community, participating in and providing leadership for an ecumenical food pantry, the Harbor house, Children's Shelter, Caregivers, Carroll county Against Domestic Violence, Ossipee Mountain Habitat for Humanity, running its Lord & Tailor Thrift shop, and more recently opening a pre-school for area children.

May they rest in peace and rise in glory

On this Memorial Day, we pause to affirm the sanctity of life and remember those whose lives have been lost—in war, in the ravages of conflict, or in the carnage of injustice. We honor their memory with a renewed commitment to peace, righteousness, justice, and love.

We also remember the grief carried by families and communities, trusting in the promise that “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). May God’s comfort surround all who mourn, and may His justice awaken in us a deeper resolve to work for a world where peace prevails.

Let us hear the call of the prophet in Isaiah 2:4 anew. Until that day comes, may we be faithful stewards of remembrance, living in ways that honor life by seeking reconciliation, pursuing justice, and walking humbly with our God.

A PENTECOST PRAYER
By, Bishop Rob (2026)

———————————————————-

Come, Holy Spirit,
Embrace me and hold me when I am feeling anxious, afraid, or lost.

Come, Holy Spirit,
Enkindle in me the fire of God’s love for whatever and whomever I meet.

Come, Holy Spirit,
Purge me from any sin or any distraction that would have me forget you are nearer than my own breath and heartbeat.

Come, Holy Spirit,
Show me the glory of your greening presence in all created beings, living or not, teeming or unmoving. Guide my heart and hands to further your healing, restoration and renewing of this glorious and wounded planet that is yours, not ours.

Come, Holy Spirit,
Fashion my will with your strength that my life will invite—and not fruitlessly shame—others to the grace of Jesus Christ.

Come, Holy Spirit,
Comfort those burdened with grief, sorrow, fear, confusion, or anger. Be their soothing balm today.

Come, Holy Spirit,
Guide me to a new and steady vision of justice and good in this society, especially when I cannot or I refuse to hope, or see, or work for it.

Come, Holy Spirit,
Enter the cracks and brokenness, the failures and shortcomings of my life and this world. Fill my soul with the forgiveness and peace that the Risen Jesus breathes on those who follow him

Come, Holy Spirit,
Help me rejoice in finding you to be the source and the homecoming of all my prayers, all my actions, indeed my entire life—in the past, in the present, and for all eternity.

Come, Holy Spirit.
