Join Fr. Victor for his homily for the Thirtieth Sunday of the Year.

Father Victor reminds us that our Christian life is measured by how we live out the virtue of love. Jesus calls us to love God and to love our neighbor. True love is not just expressed in words, but demonstrated through our actions. If we live these two dimensions of love faithfully, we can say that we have lived well.

Jesus swats away the challenges from synagogue officials to bring us back to the heart of our faith: love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This means putting God at the center of our lives and trusting His will above our own desires.

But Jesus gives us a second commandment that is just as important: love your neighbor as yourself. Even those who hurt us, disagree with us, or are otherwise different from us.

Did you know that the Saint John Paul II Divine Mercy Shrine in Salem has a relic of Saint John Paul II!? Cardinal Seán O’Malley gave these as gifts to the shrine in 2017 when it opened, and they have been cherished there ever since!

Today we celebrate the faith of eight men, including Saints Isaac Jogues and John de Brébeuf, who were captured in 1642 and killed for sharing the Catholic faith in North America. Truly their blood is the seed of our Church.
