Please come to our parish cemetery Monday, May 25th, at 9 am to honor and remember our veterans.

Memorial Day is a sacred day of remembrance dedicated to honoring the men and women who died serving in the U.S. military. While it has evolved into the unofficial start of summer with cookouts and an extra day of the weekend, it is fundamentally a solemn opportunity to reflect on the true cost of freedom.

"God of power and mercy, you destroy war and put down earthly pride. Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears, that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters. Keep in your mercy those men and women who have died in the cause of freedom and bring them safely into your kingdom of justice and peace. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

On May 14th, we celebrated the life of John K. Bentil, Father Gus' father, who passed away in February. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
"In our own sorrow, we need to remember that the bonds of love that have knit us together throughout this life do not unravel with death, and we look forward to the day when we will all be together again in God's kingdom." Pope Benedict XVI
