"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1, ESV. The Teacher lists the times, birth to death, weeping to dancing, and every one arrives on a schedule somebody else keeps. That is the relief. God kept the job of running the world for himself, and he handed you today. If you missed Sunday, the whole message is on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/

Ladies, mark February 19 and 20. The Abide Women's Conference at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary is an evening and a day of worship, teaching, and table fellowship with women from churches across the country, and this year's theme is Women of Hope. It has sold out all five years it has run, this past January in under a month, and registration opens September 1. If you plan to go with the women of FBC, tell Kasey or Braiden this week so we can register together.

Sunday we watched the Teacher add up everything he built for himself and get v***r. The turn came at the supper table in verse 24: the bread, the work, the years, all of it out of the hand of God. Receiving has to be learned. Eugene Peterson writes, "All is gift... For the most part, receptivity is a learned response." So here is the practice this week: at every meal, name one thing out loud and say why you are thanking God for it. The Apprentice Gathering starts September 6, and Sunday is the day to say you are in. We read The Good and Beautiful God by James Bryan Smith one chapter a week, practice what it teaches during the week, solitude, silence, prayer, sleep, then sit in Roger and Jan Smith's living room and talk about what happened. What you bring is the class. The church is buying the books. Tell Pastor Garrison by Sunday, August 30, so yours is here before we start. Sunday afternoons at 4:00.

Tonight at 6:00, the whole church in one room. This is the night the month has been building toward. We land in Luke 15 with a father who sees his boy a long way down the road and runs to him. In God's kingdom, the Father runs to you. Every age together in the sanctuary. Bring the family and come as you are.

Here is the week at FBC Wisner. Wednesday at 6:00 the whole church is in one room for the last of our August family nights. We land in Luke 15 with a father who sees his boy a long way down the road and runs. Sunday at 9:45 we open Ecclesiastes 3, and Sunday is also the day to tell Pastor Garrison you want a book for the Apprentice Gathering, since the church is buying them. Save this one so you have it. "This also, I saw, is from the hand of God." Ecclesiastes 2:24, ESV. The Teacher built it for himself, eight times over in one chapter, and it left him empty-handed. Then he sat down at an ordinary supper and received it instead. Same bread, different hands. If you missed Sunday, the whole message is on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/
