"Lord, as this Tuesday begins, I surrender my day into Your hands. Please go before me and order my steps. Open the doors You want me to walk through, and close the ones that aren’t meant for me. Give me the courage to trust You and the discernment to make choices that honor You. Amen 🙏

Wisdom with Psalms Psalms 70
Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lor d.

Kathy thought she was going to scream. The man came into the office and paced back and forth until she had gotten off the phone and was able to ask him what he wanted. He fidgeted at the desk, telling her that he was a very busy man and didn't have time to wait around. She told him to have a seat. In the next five minutes he sat drumming his fingers on a table looked at this watch a dozen times, asked twice whether it would be much longer, and intermittently sighed heavily. Kathy had no patience with people who lacked patience themselves.

Patience is not a strong virtue in the twentieth century. We are a people of instant gratification. We want what we want when we want it. We don't like to wait. Unfortunately, we worship a God of eternity who chooses to operate on His time schedule, not ours. Therefore, patience is a vital component of the happy Christian life. Ask the Lord for patience. You'll need it.

Prayer: Father, I need to learn to wait graciously and patiently. Fill my heart with peace and give me a spirit of acceptance, that I might know happiness even when things don't happen fast enough to suit me. Amen.

Prayer for today Let's Pray:

Dear God, criticism is not something that I enjoy. Like many people, it makes me feel bad about myself. It also triggers many memories from when I was younger, and my parents were overly critical of me. Please help me to learn to accept criticism and to grow from it. Equip my heart to remain strong when others criticize me. I want to take it in stride and to listen to the wise.

While I know it might still hurt me at times, I know You can help me overcome the pain and disappointment. I trust that You can guide my heart to the way of wisdom rather than ignoring the ways of the wise. Thank You, God, for always hearing my prayers.

In Your Son’s Name, I pray, Amen

Time with God
John 17:4-5

“I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.”

What has God called me to do?

It is an important question. God has placed you on this earth for a reason. God has a purpose for your life. That purpose gives your life meaning.

The great purpose of all of our lives is to know God, to glorify God and to share him with others. But there is a more specific purpose for your specific life. And this past year fits into that purpose.

Look back over your calendar. How has God been working in your life? What lessons has he been teaching you? What has he been developing in your character? What have you learned about being a part of God’s work in this world?

Can you say, as Jesus said, “I have accomplished the work which you have given me to do”? Think about your personal ministry into other people’s lives throughout the day. How could you use your relationships more for God in the future? What about your ministry in your church? How has God used you? Praise him for that, and ask him to increase his work through you in the days to come.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this new day and a fresh start. As I step into this week, I give You my schedule, my tasks, and my concerns. Please grant me the wisdom to make good decisions, the strength to handle challenges with grace, and the peace to know I am not walking alone. Guide my steps and let my work reflect Your love. In Jesus’ name, 🙏

Wisdom with Psalms Psalms 69:21
They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

Sometimes we think things are going really bad in our lives. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking we're worse off than anyone else. When we feel sorry for ourselves, all we need do is turn to the story of Jesus' last few hours on earth. There the man who knew no sin became sin for us, so we might have eternal life. He was tripped, beaten, spit upon, and when, as His dying request, He asked for a drink to wet His lips, they put vinegar before Him instead of water. No kindness was shown the Prince of Peace, the one who had done nothing in His life to warrant such cruel mistreatment. Compared with the trial and misfortune of our Lord, we have very little to complain about. To even compare ourselves to Him is to open ourselves to shame. Christ endured torment and death upon a cross for our sakes. Now, He abides with us to help us endure every trial.
