SUNDAY PREVIEW
“Character > Calling in Church Leadership”
Deuteronomy 16:18-17:20

One does not need to look very far to find examples of the kind of damage that can be done when ungodly leaders are in positions of influence and authority in churches around the world.

This is one of the most common reasons why many people, even professing Christians, choose not to belong to a church or even attend worship services with other professing Christians.

This Sunday we will be reminded of how God’s blueprint for churches and their leadership is the very thing that is supposed to protect churches from ungodly leaders and minimize the negative impact they could possibly have on a local church.

We must remember that it is the people in churches who are broken (yes, all of them), and NOT the system.

However, many churches choose to create their own blueprints regarding leadership structures, titles, membership, and expectations for its leaders and members.

Join us this Sunday to hear how God’s blueprint for churches and church leadership is beautifully designed to point all of us to salvation in Jesus Christ, who is Judge, Great High Priest, King, and the Good Shepherd of those who believe in Him for the forgiveness of sins.

For those who do not put their faith in Jesus will unfortunately only know Him as Judge on the day when they appear before His throne and will be righteously condemned in their brokenness.

Come and hear the good news of how broken people (like you and me) are able to be saved!

SUNDAY PREVIEW
DEUTERONOMY 16:1-17
“Why Christians Gather to Worship”

“I don’t need to go to church to be a Christian”

This statement is true for every person. However, what also is true is that someone who professes to be a Christian yet refuses and is hard-hearted toward the concept of faithfully gathering with other Christians as part of their worship of God, is at risk of not truly being a Christian at all!

Every person begins at the “infant” stage of faith when they first become a Christian, putting their faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. It’s similar to how every person who begins training in martial arts starts off as a white-belt.

Our passage this Sunday in Deuteronomy 16:1-17 is going to remind us of the historical background behind God’s instructions for how He is to be worshiped as King when His people come together to pay tribute and reaffirm their loyalty to Him as a corporate gathering.

This Sunday we will also take a closer look as to why the early church thought it to be important enough to gather weekly on the first day of each week and why Christians have continued to follow their example to this day.

If you’ve never been to church before, this is a good week to start! If you haven’t been to church in a while, this is a good week to be reminded why it’s important. If you go to church regularly, this is a good week to be reaffirmed by God’s Word as to why you do what you do.

Join us this Sunday to hear more about how special it is when God’s children come together for family gatherings on a weekly basis. Afterall, you are always invited to join the family!
