Winterville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Winterville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) We meet each Sunday at 10:30 AM

Winterville Christian Church is affiliated with the Christian Church Disciples of Christ. ALL BELONG HERE 1.

We believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. This statement is more than words or simply a confession of faith. Jesus came to show us the profound love of God, a love that lifted up the downtrodden and affirmed the powerless. We are to express that same kind of love, which goes against some social norms and expectations.

2. We believe that The Lord’s Table is an open and inclusive table. Communion, which we celebrate weekly, is open to all persons who love Jesus as the Christ, regardless of age, denomination, or theological beliefs. We believe that Jesus called everyone to table fellowship. The table becomes a symbol of our hospitality – open and affirming to all people. When we partake, we are asked to examine ourselves, to make our confession, and to commit to a deeper form of the Christian journey when we eat of this Love Feast.

3. We believe in the ministry of all believers. Each member and participant of our church is gifted in many ways; each is a minister of the church. We seek to use our gifts corporately, as the body of Christ. None is more important than another. The focus of leadership in the church is not through controlling power, but through “servant leadership”.

4. We believe in the love of unity. Recognized or not, we are in relation to one another as persons and through nature. “Unity is our polar star” has been a theme of the Disciples. We believe that we are to work together as denominations to be the witnesses of Christ. Actually, unity is not something for which we strive; we are united though at times we are not conscious of our unity. We seek to help people recognize this unity and to use the power of unity to serve God in this community.

5. We believe in the justice of God. We are called to love and serve all of God’s people. We are to serve the marginalized people in our community. We are called to take a stand on social issues that demand a Christian response, rather than an acceptable and non-offensive response. This takes us back to the first belief – to confess Jesus as Christ means that we serve in ways that Christ would have served. Ultimately, we die seeking to love all people.

I am the clay.
Mould me and make me,
This is what I pray. (Chorus)
1 Amazing grace! How sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like me!I once was lost, but now am found,Was blind, but now I see.
3 Oh, for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me;
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.Come home, (Come home,) come home, (come home,)Ye who are weary, come home;Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,Calling, "O sinner, come home!".

4 And all forgiven tender hearts,
Forgiving others, take your part,
Sing praises, Alleluia!
You who long pain and sorrow bear,
Praise God, who knows your every care.

Here in this place the new light is streaming, shadows of doubt are vanished away.
See in this space our fears and our dreamings, brought here to you in the light of this day.
Gather us in, the lost and forsaken, gather us in, our spirits inflame;
Call to us now, and we shall awaken, we shall arise at the sound of our name.

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.
I can feel His mighty power, and His grace.
I can hear the brush of angel's wings,
I see glory on each face.
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way

Where there is hatred, let me bring your love.
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord,
And where there’s doubt, true faith in you.
O Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled, as to console,
To be understood, as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace.

Good Evening! Pastor Bryan here, sorry for the late post… work has been WORKING!

Tomorrow at WCC, we will gather for a special Sunday Worship as we honor what would have been Miss Mary Forlines’ 100th birthday.

During worship, we will have a special dedication remembering Miss Mary and our other WCC Saints for their and lasting impact on our church and church family. Following a brief devotion, there will also be an opportunity for anyone who would like to share a memory, story, or reflection.

After worship, we will gather in Ellis Hall for a celebration reception with cake, stories, slideshows, and fellowship as we continue remembering and giving thanks for a love that touched so many.

We hope you will join us tomorrow as we remember, celebrate, and give thanks for Miss Mary and all those whose faithful love and service continue to shape Winterville Christian Church.

We’ll see you tomorrow, WCC Family!

Happy Father’s Day!

Thank you to everyone who worshipped with us today at Winterville Christian Church. We are grateful for the opportunity to gather in faith, fellowship, and gratitude. Thank you Tyra Sparrow for leading us in worship today and delivering a meaningful message.

A special thank you to all who shared stories and memories of the fathers, mentors, and fatherly figures who have shaped your lives. Your stories reminded us that love, guidance, encouragement, and faithfulness come in many forms and leave a lasting impact on generations.

May we continue to honor and celebrate those who have nurtured, taught, supported, and loved us along life's journey.

Wishing all a blessed and joyful Father's Day!
