Thanks to Eden and Tilly for leading the first L'Dor v'Dor of the school year today. The kids enjoyed apples two ways (sliced with honey and dehydrated), participated in a Rosh Hashanah quiz game, and painted honey pots to use at home. Please remember to RSVP each month at [email protected]. The next L'Dor v'Dor isn't until October 25 due to High Holidays.

Save the dates for this year's L'Dor v'Dor events for 2nd-5th grade! RSVP required to tildorvdor@gmail.com. Thank you!

We had a busy last day of Camp Temple Israel celebrating Shabbat and holding our talent show. Campers shopped at our shuk by redeeming the shekels they earned all week. Then everyone got to see their completed 3D-printed spice boxes--courtesy of Rabbi Neely--and fill them with a blend of spices. We also discussed the havdalah traditions and blessings before getting ready for the main event: our talent show! It was a big success with our wonderful audience of family members. Thank you for sharing your children with us this week. Stefanie, Tilly, Adam, and I loved being with them!

Our second-to-last day of Camp Temple Israel started with kickball and basketball in this nice weather. After snack, we moved into the art room for soap carving, which was somehow both clean and messy! Craft loop chains and the marble run remain popular, but we took a break from crafting to do a mitzvah and bring food to the Little Free Pantry. The kids had a chance to check out the Little Free Library too. We ended the day with some serious practice for tomorrow's talent show, which families are invited to attend at 12:30 p.m.

We took advantage of the beautiful weather this morning and did an outdoor scavenger hunt/bingo after shooting some hoops. Snack time must have really sustained these campers because they could not stop crafting! We finished more melty bead projects and worked on stained glass mandalas, tie-dyed tiles, craft loop chains, painting, and jewelry making. The day ended with some talent show prep. Lots more to come tomorrow!

Another busy day at Camp Temple Israel! Thank you to Men's Club for replacing the basketball net--it is definitely being put to good use! Campers enjoyed playground time, hula hoops, Jewish songs, and a game of "Red Light, Green Light." Then it was time to finish their hamsa wind chimes and start on the Perler/melty bead projects. We have some talented artists! Thank you to Ed Calish for donating the marble run. Our little engineers loved it! We ended the day with more talent show practice and cookie baking.

We had a great first day at Camp Temple Israel! The morning started with a getting-to-know-you game, followed by playground time and a snack back inside to cool off. Next, Rabbi Neely taught the campers about havdalah in preparation for their 3D-printed spice box project. He created a template for each camper to design the lid of their spice box, and he'll have everything printed in time for Shabbat and the end of camp Friday. We got a movement break in with musical chairs, followed by hamsa wind chime painting in the art room. The day ended with plenty of planning and rehearsal time for our Shabbat talent show Friday, plus some hula hoop fun. The kids were creative and kind all day, earning shekels to go shopping in the shuk for prizes Friday. See everyone tomorrow for more fun!
