This Sunday, September 13, we will welcome Seminarian-in-Residence, Ed Tackett. Ed is our newest seminarian to observe and be part of St. John’s life and ministry. He will be with us for the next two years as he works toward ordination as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America through Lutheran Theological Seminary.

Through years of service, prayer, reflection, and encouragement from his family, friends, and church community, Ed discerned a call to full-time pastoral ministry. We welcome Ed to the St. John staff and family as he learns and grows in Christ with us.

St. John Spiritual Wellness & Evangelism Outreach Initiative workshop orientation.

This faith-centered wellness workshop is designed to support daily stability, spiritual growth, and a deeper sense of purpose. The orientation will explore how everyday stressors, personal ups and downs, and grounding practices can be connected to prayer, Scripture, and trust in Jesus.

Join us next Sunday (September 20) after church for refreshments and learn more about/register for the October workshops.

In today’s second reading Paul questions why we judge one another, since we all stand before the judgment of God. Yet we do sin against one another, and Jesus’ challenge that we forgive seventy-seven times reveals God’s boundless mercy. When we hear the words of forgiveness in worship and sign ourselves with the cross, we are renewed in baptism to be signs of reconciliation in the world.

PT Calling All Young Adults – Ages 21(ish) to 39(ish) Zoom Meeting, September 22, 2026: The fastest growth in our congregation over the past few years has been in your Millennial Generation and the older half of Gen Z and it's time we had a gathering to see what the Holy Spirit is stirring in you. You have found your way to St. John as singles, couples, and families, and we see your faces every Sunday in worship as well as in leadership and service to others. I would like to ask you the same question I asked our call committee 11 years ago when I was considering the call to become your pastor: “Where do you see Jesus at St. John?” The answer then made my call and our future in a time of crisis clear. Now, we need to ask the question again in this time of growth and hope, looking at the coming years: “Where do you see Jesus at St. John?”

Conflict is a part of relationships and life in community. Jesus’ words in today's gospel are often used in situations having to do with church discipline. The prophet Ezekiel tells of warning the wicked to turn from their ways, and Paul reminds us that love is the fulfilling of the law. We gather in the name of Christ, assured that he is present among us with gifts of peace and reconciliation.
