Today, on World Oceans Day, we celebrate the beauty, wonder, and importance of our oceans—and the many ways they connect us to the world around us.

The Neptune Memorial Reef is a unique example of remembrance and conservation working together. Located beneath the waters off the coast of Florida, this underwater memorial reef provides a final resting place that helps create and sustain marine habitat for countless species of ocean life.

The Roman word "pallium" refers to a person's cape or cloak, often used in relation to a soldier. When the person passed away, they were covered in the cloak. This led to the term "pall" and is a heavy, usually white, and sometimes ornate cloth that is draped over the casket. The terms "casket bearer" and "pall" were merged together to create the term "pallbearer" which refers to a person who carries the casket during a funeral service.
