This is a story about the God of everybody, everything, introducing Himself by descending into our weakness. A love that found you even before you thought to go looking for it.

Happy 140 years All Saints Family!

On June 9–10, 1886, at the diocesan convention in Palatka, All Saints was declared an official parish mission of the Diocese of South Florida by Bishop W**d. It was a significant moment in our story, what had been emerging was finally made official.

As we look back on our beginnings, it’s amazing to see all the ways God was at work behind the scenes. One home, one household, one community leader after another, God was guiding and shaping this church, leading us to where we are today.

And as we reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re headed, we give thanks for the many milestones along the way. The Sunday communions we’ve shared and the journey we’ve taken together have changed us. We are not the same because of the life we’ve shared here at All Saints.

Happy 140th Anniversary, All Saints. And praise God for all that has been happening in our lives together.

Did you know three stained glass windows remain from the original All Saints sanctuary? Today, they are grouped together in the vesting sacristy.

“Christ the Good Shepherd” (1889) is American and was acquired for $250. “St. John the Evangelist” (1891) is by Heaton, Butler, & Bayne of London. The third, the “Great Harvest” (1889) represents the evangelistic work of the church in the community.

Did you know the “Mission of All Saints” was recognized by the Florida Diocese at its annual meeting June 9-10, 1886.

Early leaders were appointed, fundraising commenced, and construction completed in 100 days on land provided by the Winter Park Land Company. The original church stood until 1941.

Did you know that in its earliest days, the congregation of All Saints Winter Park met at the illustrious Seminole Hotel?

Built at a cost of $150,000, the grand Seminole Hotel opened on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day 1885-1886 and featured 200 rooms and over five stories of lodging. In those days, patrons from the North typically arrived at New Years and stayed through the month of April. During this time, the fledgling Episcopal congregation met on Sunday mornings at the fabled Hotel.

The Seminole had an elevator, a full orchestra, a bowling alley, tennis courts, a croquet lawn, and a billiard hall. Guests could cross Lake Osceola on a small steamer or use the hotel’s sail and rowboats on Lake Osceola. It was the largest hotel in Florida South of Jacksonville and was visited by Pres. Grover Cleveland in 1888. A fire destroyed the hotel in 1902.

The gift of the Trinity is the gift of Jesus being with us always, of God being for us. Of being loved deeply by God himself.

Did you know that the first Episcopal gathering in Winter Park took place on the second floor of the current Bluemercury building at the corner of Park Avenue and Morse Boulevard?

On December 11, 1882, twenty-seven residents met to organize the Winter Park Union Sunday School in the meeting house above Ergood & White, a general store. Out of this gathering grew the organization of All Saints Episcopal, Winter Park Congregational, and Winter Park Methodist Churches. Now the oldest standing building in Winter Park, it was also a school, a Post Office, and the Town Hall where the City was incorporated in 1887.

Rev. Charles W. Ward led the first Episcopal service in the meeting house in April 1883 as the population of the village had grown to nearly 600. That month, President Chester A. Arthur traveled through town on the train and pronounced Winter Park to be, “the prettiest place I have seen in Florida.”

The town newspaper, Lac Mede, printed a brief article on April 15th, 1883, noting “Rev. Mr. Ward held the first Episcopal services in Winter Park in the Town Hall at 8 o’clock Sunday evening, the 15th inst., when he delivered an eloquent sermon to a good-sized audience.”

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

We are saved, not by perfectly trusting all of God's promises. We're saved by trusting Jesus.

O God, who on this day taught the hearts of your faithful people by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit: Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Celebrating Holy Baptism with our All Saints Family was such a blessing! As you go through this week, join us in praying for each of these families, thanking God for them, and praying for each of their unique journeys.

Some of you may feel alone and isolated this very morning, sitting here among people. And God intervenes.

05/20/2026

God is not anxious about your life. He's not scrambling to catch up. He's patient. And if Jesus is praying for you as patiently as he is, not just once, but continually, then your life is being held within all that patience. This means even when you feel behind, you are not behind. Even when you feel lost, you are not lost to him. Even when you feel like you don't know what to pray, you have a prayer with him because Jesus is praying for you right now.

Our All Saints family showed up in a big way for Books for Honduras.

Because of your generosity, books are on their way to help create bilingual libraries in 8 Episcopal schools across Honduras — opening doors for learning, imagination, and opportunity for so many students.

Thank you for giving so joyfully and loving so well.

While our collection drive at All Saints has wrapped up, the project continues! Visit the link in our bio or visit allsaints.fyi/honduras to learn how you can keep supporting this ministry.

Christian faith is not ultimately about our reaching up to God. It's about God coming down to us, into our confusion, into our failure. And then doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves, to bring us to God, to carry us home.
