He tells them to come.

John 8:12-30 reminds us that people in darkness do not always welcome the light at first. But that cannot stop us from turning it on. Someone once risked the awkwardness to share the gospel with you. Are you willing to do the same for someone else?

The good news is worth the risk. Many believed in him (John 8:30). Many still do.

Sin is the enemy. And you should desire holiness, not because you want God to love you more, or not because you want him to accept you more. The people around you who are chasing status, comfort, control, or pleasure are not simply making bad choices. They are thirsty. They are looking for something that can hold their hope, and everything they try eventually leaks. You carry the message of the only one who can truly satisfy. That is not a burden -- it is a privilege. The question is not whether the people around you are thirsty. They are. The question is whether you are willing to point them toward the water.

We live in a world where we constantly look to created things -- status, security, comfort -- to fill what only God was designed to fill. But those things were never built to hold the weight of our hope. They leak. They burst. They leave us empty.

Jesus came not just to promise a better future, but to deal with the root problem: sin. He died, rose, and sends his Spirit to dwell within us -- living water flowing from deep within (John 7:38).

You do not have to keep searching. Come and drink.

Where are you placing your hope? In John 7, Jesus stands before a crowd desperately searching for something to satisfy their deepest longings -- and cries out: "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink." (John 7:37)

We were made for relationship with God. When sin broke that relationship, we started filling the gap with things that were never built to hold our hope -- status, comfort, power, security. But created things always leak. They always burst.

Jesus did not come just to offer us more of the world. He came to deal with sin at the root, repair what was lost, and give us living water that truly satisfies. That is the good news of the gospel.

Prayer is not a last resort. It is the most powerful thing you can do. Not because of who you are, but because of whose you are. If you belong to Christ, you are Holy Spirit rich, and that changes everything.

What if your prayers are bringing the heat—even when you can’t see the boil yet? 🔥

Elijah prayed once. Then twice. Then seven times. And on the seventh time, he saw a cloud as small as a man’s hand.

Sometimes prayer feels like nothing is happening. But God may be working beneath the surface, building something we can’t see yet.

Mercy Hill, let’s keep bringing the heat.
Let’s pray for our families. Our neighbors. Our church. Our community. The people who are far from God.

One prayer. Then another. Then another.

We may not see the rain yet.

Here is the truth about you if you are in Christ: you are not unloved, not defeated, not dirty, and not defined by your past. As Titus 3:4-7 reminds us, God saved us through his love, washed us, and made us new.

And as 1 John 4:4 declares, the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. You do not have to be afraid -- just aware.
