Community Church Winter Haven

Community Church Winter Haven We have two locations in Oshkosh, WI and one in Winter Haven, FL. Every Sunday, January - March we gather to worship, remember, offer, and learn together.

Passionate about being a community of faith, bringing faith to the community, Community Church identifies itself in God’s restorative plan of making disciples of all nations. We meet at the Orange Manor West Club House in Winter Haven, FL. Our services are informal and casual. We generally begin with announcement and prayer requests followed by worship time. We sing 2-3 traditional hymns that hel

p us focus our hearts and minds towards who God is, what God has done, and what God promises to do. The service then moves into a time of teaching via video from one of the pastors. Teaching at Community Church is observed as a vital part of spiritual growth for the church. The Bible is always used, and Jesus is always made known. Teaching usually ranges from 30 – 40 minutes. We end our time together in fellowship and enjoying donuts. At Community Church, we aim to be a people of faith on mission, bringing faith to our communities. As a church, a group of followers of Jesus, we try our best to love what Jesus loved…and spend our time like He did. With that said, try to balance our time in worship to God, growing as a community, and being sent out in our everyday life.

Sunday Reflection: Our Citizenship

To get the most out of this devotion, set aside time to read the Scripture referenced throughout.

On this day, many Americans proudly define themselves by the nation they live in. But as Christians, we know our earthly citizenship has no bearing on our true identity. At the moment of salvation, all believers become citizens of heaven. Civic responsibilities, while important, are always secondary to our allegiance to the Lord. Jesus’ followers are called to seek His kingdom first, regardless of their nationality.

Philippians 3:20 reminds us that our citizenship is in heaven. Being God’s child is our most essential role, and when we prioritize this relationship above all else, we gain an accurate perspective of life, no matter what is happening in our country or the world. Setting our mind on things above (Col. 3:2) helps us remember our true home in God’s kingdom, where we will gather together with “all the tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb” (Revelation 7:9).

Psalms 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

What the Bible says in that verse allows us to safely walk with Jesus by FAITH.
The problem is, a lamp to my feet and a light to my path is just enough for us to take one step at a time, and we want a beacon unto the future.
We want to know where we are going Now! Faith is very hard for many of us.
Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Faith is a big deal! Do you know the difference between head knowledge and heart faith?

Settle Your Salvation Today

“I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Luke 23:43 (NLT)

When the criminal hanging next to Jesus on the cross asked Jesus to remember him, Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43 NLT). With his response, Jesus gave four characteristics of salvation that you can trust and believe in.

First, he said “today.” When you die, you either go straight into the presence of God or you go straight into separation from God. And salvation is immediate too. The moment you ask Jesus Christ to save you, it’s done.

Second, salvation is certain. He said, “Today you will.” He didn’t say, “You might” or “I hope.” His answer wasn’t, “Let me think about it.”

Jesus said, “You will.” When you accept Christ, you can be certain of your salvation.

Third, salvation is a relationship. Jesus said, “You will be with me.”

Salvation is not a religion. It’s not rules or regulations or rituals. It’s a relationship. That relationship doesn’t begin when you get to heaven. It begins here on Earth. Jesus Christ wants to be your best friend; he wants to talk with you all the time. God made you for a relationship with him!

Fourth, Jesus said, “Today you will be with me in paradise.” Heaven is a real place, and it’s forever.

Two criminals were crucified with Jesus, one on either side. Jesus gave them the choice of salvation, and he gives you the same choice. He won’t force you to love him. He’s not going to force you to trust him or accept heaven.

One of the two criminals rejected Jesus. The other turned to him in faith. You have the same choice.

Romans 10:13 says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (NIV). Do you believe these truths about salvation? Are you ready to call on the name of the Lord?

The Bible says, “This is the hour to receive God’s favor; today is the day to be saved!” (2 Corinthians 6:2 GNT).

Choose to settle the issue of your eternal destiny today. Trust Jesus’ promise of salvation. You can start by praying this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day. Thank you that I can be sure you will fulfill your promise, that I can be assured of my salvation.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are God, my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning every part of my life over to you. I want to follow you and do what you tell me to do.

“Jesus, I am grateful for your love and sacrifice that makes it possible for me to join you in heaven. Thank you that I don’t have to earn or work for my salvation, because I know that is impossible. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Do You See Others the Way Jesus Does?

“When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.”

Mark 6:34 (NIV)

How do you know if you’re looking at life from God’s viewpoint? Think about the way you see other people.

This is a great test of your spiritual maturity—better than asking how much of the Bible you know, how often you go to church, or whether you serve, tithe, or pray.

Life is all about love and relationships. So if you want to gauge your spiritual maturity, think about how you see other people.

Let me ask you some pointed questions.

How does God see your spouse? Valuable. Acceptable. Lovable. Forgivable. Is that the way you see your spouse?

How about the stranger at the grocery store? The person who cut you off in traffic? The beggar on the street? What do you see when you look at other people? Do you see them as irritations or burdens?

What about the people you work with? Do you see them as enemies? Competition? Or do you see them the way God sees them?

All people matter to God. It doesn’t matter who they are, what they’ve done, or even what they believe. Christ died for them. Jesus loves them. God has a plan for every person, and he wants them to have a relationship with him.

The Bible says in Mark 6:34, “When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd” (NIV).

That’s the way Jesus sees people. And that’s the way you can grow to see people too. You can learn to have compassion for your own family as well as for your neighbors, your community, your country, and the rest of the world.

Let your spiritual vision get stronger as you learn to see people the way Jesus does.

Love one another, Encourage someone today!

While it looks like everything is out of control, there is a
God who has not surrendered authority!

May this be our Goal in 2021 and beyond. 🙏🏼

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” (2 Corinthians 9:6)

This is the law of sowing and reaping, and it’s true in every area of life. If you sow criticism, you’re going to reap criticism. If you sow love, you’ll reap love. If you sow kindness, you will reap kindness. And you always reap more than you sow. You always get back more—positive or negative—of what you put out in life.

And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.” Luke 1:46-47

Praise is the spontaneous response of a grateful child of God in His presence. The person who knows God and experiences Him intimately sings to the Lord with deepest praise! Mary was overwhelmed by the Lord’s goodness to her. In response she sang one of the most beautiful and profound songs of praise found in Scripture. Trying to stop the praise of a thankful heart would be like trying to arrest the flow of a mighty waterfall! God created us to praise Him; praise will be our activity when we are gathered around His throne in heaven.

You should never have difficulty thinking of reasons why God deserves your praise. You should enjoy the times you have to praise your Lord, both privately and publicly in worship. If your life is not filled with praise, it may be that you have lost your appreciation for God’s merciful activity in your life. Never forget what God has saved you from. Never take for granted what it means to have the assurance of eternity with God. Do not disregard the spiritual kinship you enjoy with other believers. Take time often to recount the blessings He has poured out upon you and your family. As you contemplate the boundless love and mercy God has shown you, you will want to sing His praises as Mary did. Spontaneous praise is authentic praise. It does not have to be manipulated or orchestrated. It is a real and personal expression of a grateful heart and wonder-filled life that has encountered holy God!
