I think it’s amazing in our decadent culture how quick we are to want “justice” to be dispensed on people who have transgressed in our moral economy. “Throw away the key” justice is easy to project on others. “They have it coming” and the best is “Karma”. Smh. Yeah desiring justice is easy. It takes no effect. No predisposition of the human soul is required. Everyone is wired to want justice to be dispensed on others.
Justice is what we ultimately will be faced with. Not projecting outward...but towards us directly. It won’t matter what our neighbor is doing, what our ex had done...what horrible offenses we see on the news. Nope, on that day all that will matter is our account and what exposure to justice we have.
So yes justice is what we will get, but it isn’t currently what we need. Hate and vengeance don’t accomplish what goodness and mercy will. That is why the scriptures tell us that what we are followed with and chased by is not justice or a reckoning but mercy and goodness instead. You enemy needs your mercy and kindness. The person that wrongs you needs to receive a blessing and not a curse. You might be shaking your head and laughing but it’s the truth. That doesn’t mean people get off scott free. There are consequences for actions. But those consequences don’t preempt our mindless, love and mercy. The issue is our souls are spiritually fit enough to exercise those attributes. It takes nothing to demand justice. Spiritually unfit people can go through that workout. I mean spiritually speaking you can sit on the couch, drown I chips and beer and still exercise justice. But to dispense mercy to someone who has hurt you, love to someone who hates you, kindness in response to hurt...you better be spiritually fit. I mean fit. But kindness and mercy will make the difference. It will change your child, your family and any person that needs to be brought to a choice of reckoning. It is our kindness and goodness that justifies the justice people will be faced with when Judgement comes.
Don’t be weak. Be slothful and go the easy route. Workout with your Creator...develop your spiritual body...show it off...your kindness, love, goodness and mercy. We live in a world that desperately needs it.
