Many Christians live as though God's love rises and falls with their performance.
One good week and they feel accepted. One bad week and they feel condemned.

But the gospel is different.

Christ gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from this present evil age. Our standing before God rests not on our performance, but on the finished work of Jesus Christ.

If salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, then God alone receives the glory.

The great temptation of every age is to add something of ourselves to the gospel which would be to make God's acceptance depend, even in part, on our performance. But the Apostle Paul reminds us that Christ has done everything necessary for our salvation.

Every religion of human achievement leaves room for boasting. The gospel leaves room only for worship.

In an age that rejects God-given authority, the Scriptures still call men to faithful leadership. Fathers are entrusted with the noble task of shepherding their households, loving their wives, discipling their children, and establishing the worship of God within the home.

Strong churches are built upon strong families, and strong families are led by faithful fathers, men who open the Scriptures, gather their households in prayer, sing God's praises, and teach the faith once delivered to the saints. When fathers embrace their covenant responsibilities, the blessing extends far beyond their own homes.

As St. John's celebrates Father's Day tomorrow, we thank God for our fathers and spiritual fathers who labor faithfully, often unseen and uncelebrated, for the glory of Christ and the good of those entrusted to their care.

“All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall.”

Paul begins his letter to the Galatians by establishing a truth that stands at the heart of the Christian faith: salvation is from Christ, through Christ, and for the glory of Christ. The gospel does not rest upon the authority of men, the works of the law, or human tradition, but upon the sovereign grace of God revealed in His Son.

Join us this Lord’s Day at 10:30am as Pastor Cavalli begins his sermon series on the epistle to the Galatians.

“Thee every kindred, every tribe, on this terrestrial ball, to Him all majesty ascribe, and crown Him Lord of all.”

"Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay."

In Nehemiah 13, Tobiah was given a place in the temple, and what belonged there was pushed aside. The same thing happens when we make room for sin. It never arrives alone. It displaces the good, the true, and the beautiful to make room for itself.

Where sin has found room in our lives, it must be removed so that Christ may fill that space with the beauty of His glory, goodness, and grace.

Nehemiah removed Tobiah from the temple. Jesus cleansed the temple courts. Both remind us of the same truth: God's people must not make peace with what God condemns.

Christ is zealous for the holiness of His house, and through His Spirit He is continually reforming His people.

"You are not sustained by your uneven fidelity, but by His unwavering faithfulness." - Rev. Cavalli

Most people don't like being corrected.

Our first instinct is often to become defensive, justify ourselves, or explain away our sin. Yet Scripture teaches that godly correction is a kindness.

How would you respond if another believer confronted you about sin they observed in your life; not what they call sin, but what God's Word calls sin?

"The ear that listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise." (Prov. 15:31)

One of God's ordinary means of reforming His people is loving correction. May He give us humble hearts that are willing to listen, examine ourselves, and be conformed more and more to the image of Christ.

The book of Nehemiah ends not with perfect faithfulness, but with a reminder of God's enduring mercy.

After the wall was rebuilt, worship restored, and the covenant renewed, the people quickly returned to old sins. Their story reminds us how easily our own hearts wander.

Yet Nehemiah 13 is not just about failure; it is about God's faithfulness. He does not abandon His people but continually calls them back through His grace.

The Christian life is not marked by perfection, but by ongoing repentance and dependence on Christ. Though the work of reformation is never finished in this life, God is faithful to complete the work He has begun.

Nehemiah ultimately points us to Christ. Nehemiah could rebuild walls, but Christ restores sinners. He is faithful to His promises and committed to finishing His work in His people.

"Remember me, O my God, for good." — Nehemiah 13:31
