Numbers 26:1–25; Luke 1:5–25

I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my cause is with the LORD and my reward with my God. Isaiah 49:4

Simon answered, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” Luke 5:5

Lord, you know our families are a big part of our lives, as is our work. Help us to keep you in all parts of our lives; we need you there. Amen.

Jesus said, “In the world you face persecution, but take courage: I have conquered the world!” John 16:33

We pray, Lord, that you protect the least among us. Help us find ways to aid those around us who need a helping hand. We know that when we help others, we are honoring you. Amen.

David prayed, “And now, O LORD God, as for the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and concerning his house, confirm it forever; do as you have promised.” 2 Samuel 7:25

Of this man’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised. Acts 13:23

We worship you, Lord, for your appearance here on earth as a servant, not as king. We know that serving others is the best way to go. Help us to remain humble in our lives, as we follow Jesus’ example. Amen.

Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask of him.” John 11:21-22

Lord, thank you for sending us your son. Jesus is always here to hear our prayers and to help us to be better people. We await the return of Jesus to bring us to God, face to face. Amen.

That no one wrong or exploit a brother or sister in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things. 1 Thessalonians 4:6

We ask, Lord, that you help us live in Christian love. We pray for all people to see each other as children of God. We want our lives to follow the example of your son, Jesus. Amen.

And he answered them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight; the lame walk; those with a skin disease are cleansed; the deaf hear; the dead are raised; the poor have good news brought to them.” Luke 7:22

Dear Lord, please lay your hands on us and help us to be agents of healing for the suffering around us. We look to you for comfort and guidance for our lives, and for the people we love. We thank you for sending your son to show us the way. Amen.

For whoever would approach God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6

God, we thank you for being our great protector. We appreciate how you keep us under your wing and love us forever. Help us to be better protectors of the people around us. Amen.
