In 2016 Salem Pres had to vacate Green Street Church because of urgent repairs. We asked around and around for options thinking the move was temporary, but a chance to try something besides going back home to Redeemer. After many doors closed, someone from Home Moravian connected us to Calvary. This picture is from the first time I, , entered the sanctuary and it took my breath away. I still get the same feeling every Sunday. Thank you for letting us be a part of your much longer season. See you all tomorrow night to celebrate our anniversary!!!

Salem Pres has had three life stages it seems. The protohistory as the Redeemer 5pm before a plant was even an idea. From there we pivoted to be a plant starting in 2009 eventually moving to the location above in West Salem at Green Street Church in 2011. In 2013 we became our own church, particularizing. Those were the establishing roots years. In 2016, we moved Downtown to Calvary Moravian with a hope of being a church community to the neighborhoods surrounding the city center. This has seen us grow in maturity, vision, congregation and leadership. We will celebrate God’s faithfulness through all these seasons this Sunday so come pack the house with us!

Eleven years ago today, Salem Pres left the nest. What began as the Redeemer 5pm service became a community called “Salem Presbyterian.” In those days, we did not have elders, Servant leaders, and our pastor, Ben, was an associate at Redeemer. We met at in those days and loved every moment sharing life with that community.

Two years in, nine years ago, we added “Church” becoming our own particular congregation. was installed as our founding Senior Pastor.

Mid-February marks when we moved out and when we particularized. This year we will have been at longer than Green Street. It’s exciting to see where this journey will take us.
