St. John's Winston-Salem The mission of St. John’s Lutheran Church is “to help one more person get to heaven by pointing them to Jesus Christ.” Welcome home.

John’s Lutheran Church is “to help one more person get to heaven by pointing them to Jesus Christ.” Our primary goal as a church is to connect people to Jesus Christ and to help them to stay connected to Him throughout their entire lives so that, together, we would know and share the joy of Jesus Christ. If you do not already have a Church-Home, St. John’s may be the place you’ve been looking for.

Come and See! He is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!

Karl Hastings’s, Jr. explanation of today’s arrangement:

The Word of the Lord that came to me as an inspiration for the design of flowers for the altar for this Easter is from the following:

Revelations 5:1-5 – for context and vs. 6-14 for content
Psalm 141:2
Matthew 27:28-30
Mark 15:16-20
John 19:1-5
John 15:1-11
John 21:25

Revelations 5:6 refers to Jesus as, “a Lamb STANDING as though it had been slain…” This was a reminder to me of all humiliation and suffering our Lord endured, including the crown of thorns and death by crucifixion. It also reminded me of His amazing and glorious resurrection and His complete victory over sin, death, and the evil one.

Revelations 5:8 mentions the golden bowls of incense which are the prayers of the saints. Even though Revelations chapter 5 is part of the “now and not yet”, we are still connect to it through our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and through our prayers. It is also a great example of an amazing and inspiring worship service.

Components of the Design:

Gold thorns = the victory of the Lamb over sin, Death, and the evil one.

Containers and gold sculpted palmetto = the golden bowls carrying incense of the prayers of the saints.

Flowers = countless angels and prayers of the saints

Vine = Christ the true vine
