Who gave Jesus the authority to heal, teach, and forgive sins? This Sunday, we explored Mark 11:27-33, where religious leaders confronted Jesus with this very question. Instead of defending Himself, Jesus asked them about John the Baptist's authority—a question that exposed their hearts.

The truth is powerful: Jesus didn't receive His authority from men, but from heaven itself. From Daniel's prophecy to the voice at His baptism declaring "This is my Son," Scripture confirms that all authority belongs to Christ. He is the way, the truth, and the life—there is no other path to the Father.

We celebrated two baptisms today, witnessing beautiful pictures of death to sin and resurrection to new life in Christ. Just as Jesus was dead, buried, and rose again, we too can walk in the newness of life. There's no room for indifference when it comes to Jesus. You either accept His authority or reject it. Where do you stand today?

Be sure to check out our website! Our monthly newsletter is now available, along with this week's bulletin, prayer guide, and Spotify playlist to help you prepare your heart for worship this Sunday.

We would love for you and your family to join us as we gather to worship the Lord together. This Sunday will be especially meaningful as we celebrate with two individuals who will be publicly professing their faith through baptism. We will also share in the Lord's Supper as a church family.

We are excited for the opportunity to show you the love of God through His Word and extend the fellowship of our church family. We hope to see you this Sunday!

First Baptist Church of Stanleyville is a Great Commission Church! The Baptist Faith and Message (2000) is the doctrinal statement which reflects our core doctrinal beliefs.

What does true worship look like? This Memorial Day weekend, we explored Mark 11:15-17 where Jesus cleanses the temple—not just overturning tables, but confronting a corrupted system that exploited God's people and turned a house of prayer into a marketplace.

Jesus saw the abomination: pilgrims being taken advantage of, worship reduced to profit, and the sacred space for seeking God transformed into a den of robbers. His zeal for His Father's house consumed Him. But here's the powerful truth—the real sanctuary isn't a building. It's your heart, sanctified by the blood of Jesus.

As we honor those who sacrificed for our freedom to worship, let's remember the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus willingly laid down His life so we could experience true freedom—freedom no government can give or take away. Are we living with that same zeal? Are we protecting what's sacred in our own hearts?

This Memorial Day, let's restore reverence, renew our commitment to holiness, and recognize the true cost of freedom—both in our nation and in Christ.

Each week, we take the sermon preached by our pastor—carefully studied and exegeted from Scripture—and use it as the foundation for a Sunday School lesson designed to help reinforce and deepen your understanding of God’s Word.

We are excited to now offer this resource on our website as a tool for your home or workplace Bible studies, or for small group discussion throughout the week. You can also click the image to be taken directly to our YouTube page to watch the full sermon.

We are truly excited to show you the love of God through His Word and to extend fellowship as we grow together in Christ.

We encourage you to use these resources to strengthen your walk with the Lord and stay rooted in Scripture each day.

And if you do not already have a church home, we would love to welcome you and walk alongside you here with our church family.

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself…
“What is my purpose?”

We were not created to simply go through the motions of life. God created each of us with purpose — to know Him, serve Him, and live for His glory.

True fulfillment isn’t found in success, popularity, or possessions. It’s found in living for Christ and serving His Kingdom.

Your purpose is greater than yourself.
Your purpose is found in Him.

Have you ever felt broken down by life? When the weight of pain, fear, grief, or failure hits… who do you call for help?

Statistics tell us the average driver will experience five flat tires and several accidents in a lifetime. In the same way, life guarantees seasons of breakdown. This clip from Sunday’s message reminds us that Jesus meets us in our brokenness, hears our cry, and responds with grace when we call out to Him.
