Join us this Sunday, September 6, 2026...

We will honor Labor Day Sunday with prayers of gratitude for work and for wisdom in responding to worker injustice. Our own Stephanie M, organizer with the local Triad Labor Council of the American Federal of Labor, will offer a witness in worship. We will reflect on Psalm 127 and we will have communion in a large circle at the close of worship.

Following worship, there will be a gathering of an emerging Open and Affirming Team to talk about promotion of current LGBTQ-friendly events in the community and connecting with other Open and Affirming congregations in Winston-Salem. (Meeting to be held in the small-group lounge)

Those congregants that have previously signed up for directory pictures, please come to the deck behind the fellowship hall for your picture to be made.

Come and bring your furry, scaled, or feathered friends for this brief service and blessing. (Free dog biscuits will be offered for the canine guests.)

Looking for a place where you can find community and welcome? Check out Parkway UCC this Sunday, August 23.

9:30 am - Virtual Bible Study (Zoom link included in the newsletter and e-bulletin.)

9:30 am - An in-person discussion of Friedrich Schleiermacher's "On Religion: Speeches to its Cultured Despisers" will be held in the small-group lounge.

In our recent discussion the question of speaking to the cultured despisers has come up. Schleiermacher argued that religion was rooted in human feelings, describing the core of religion as "a sense and taste for the Infinite in the finite." He understood religion as the human effort to communicate our experienced consciousness of the Divine within the human social sphere. As a result of his analysis, Schleiermacher was sensitive to the limitations of religion in the finite realm. He wrote these essays at the turn into the 19th century.

11:00 am - Worship Service - We will read the opening of the Exodus story from Exodus 1:8 - 2:10 about the Hebrew midwives and the birth of Moses. Our choir and the Stallings will offer music and we will receive healing prayers with anointing oil. We also look forward to receiving two new members joining our congregation, Tom A and Carl F.
