Because He Lives…It is well…

I’ve shared a lot of songs through the years on Facebook, so by now you probably know my love for music — especially worship music — runs deep.

Lately, I’ve been stuck on an album that released just before Easter called The Resurrection of a King by Tommee Profitt. It takes some of the most treasured hymns of the faith, pairs them with some incredibly gifted voices, and creates a completely fresh worship experience. If you love powerful, cinematic worship music, I highly recommend giving it a listen.

I fully accept that I’m a musical nerd, and this album definitely exposes my love for theatrical music (I do love a good musical 😅).

‼️BUT… if you read nothing else, if you do nothing else for yourself today… do this:

🔥Go listen to “It Is Well (Because He Lives)” by Tommee Profitt and Bay Turner. And if you can, watch the recording of it too.

It is absolutely otherworldly.

🛑👉🏼Around the 4:15 mark, the song begins transitioning from “It Is Well” into “Because He Lives,” and I honestly don’t know how to describe it other than holy. It feels like a glimpse into the throne room.

The truth is, I understand that many things in life right now aren’t well. There’s grief, uncertainty, heartbreak, disappointment, and pain all around us.

But I also know and fully believe this: even if things are not well HERE, they will be THERE.

This world is temporary. Our eternal home awaits those who are in Christ.

And because He lives… no matter what comes, we can still say:
“It is well with my soul.” 🤍

**also, go read Bay Turner’s story!

What an unforgettable Saturday at the first annual 3:Six Teens Youth Rally! 🙌🏽🔥

I had the honor of spending the day with MVT Oasis Fellowship in my hometown, Mt. Vernon, and I’m still blown away by what God did. The youth came ready to receive—and they did. They came ready to worship—and they did.

We witnessed first-time salvations, genuine repentance, commitments made, tears falling, and hearts being transformed right before our eyes. Lives were changed.

A huge thank you to the MVT Oasis leadership and volunteers. Your love for the next generation was on full display. Thank you for being obedient in creating this event.

Praying God pours out even more as you continue this work. The next generation is rising!

Holy Week, Day 7
Don’t Miss the Miracle in the Middle…

It’s been a full week.
Moments of movement, emotion, and intensity…

And then—
silence.

The day after the cross, everything stopped.
No miracles.
No teaching.
No answers.

Just… stillness.

What now?

We have the benefit of knowing what’s coming.
The disciples didn’t—even though Jesus told them.

And isn’t that where most of us live?
Not in the beginning.
Not at the end.

But in the middle.

Between our birth date
and our heaven date…
there’s the middle.

And the question is:
What will we do with it?

Most of us live based on circumstances, not faith.
We get tossed by the waves instead of anchored in His love.

And let’s be honest—
life is hard.
Not just sometimes… a lot of times.

Jesus wasn’t called the suffering servant for no reason.
We’ve just seen the weight He carried on our behalf.

The middle will hold:
Good days.
Great days.
Hard days.
Confusing days.
Painful days.

But there is one constant—
One steady, unshakable anchor.

And His name is Jesus.

Saturday may feel silent.
It may feel still.
It may even feel uncertain.

But don’t mistake silence for absence.

Sunday is coming.

And one day, we will stand before the Lord.
What we believed…
how we lived…
what we did in the middle…

It will matter.

So in the stillness—
in the waiting—
in the “what now” moments…

Choose faith.
Choose trust.
Choose Him.

Because the middle isn’t meaningless—
it’s where everything is being formed.

Holy Week, Day 6

Good Friday: When Silence Spoke the Loudest

Yesterday we reflected on how everything changed.
Today… we stand at the cross and see how it changed.

What’s striking isn’t just what Jesus did—
it’s how little He said while doing it.

Seven statements.
That’s it.

In the most painful, unjust, world-shifting moment in history…
He spoke sparingly, but powerfully.

Because actions speak louder than words ever could.

Even on the cross, He was still about His Father’s business.
Still ministering.
Still thinking of others.
Still fulfilling every last detail.

He said:
“Father, forgive them…” — while they mocked Him.
“Today you’ll be with me in paradise.” — offering hope in someone else’s final moments.
“Behold your son… behold your mother.” — caring for family in His suffering.
“My God, why have You forsaken me?” — feeling the full weight of humanity.
“I thirst.” — reminding us the pain was real.
“It is finished.” — completing the assignment.
“Into Your hands I commit My spirit.” — trusting the Father to the very end.

Notice this:
Very little of what He said was about Himself.

Even in agony… He forgave.
He comforted.
He provided.
He finished.

It’s often said that behavior is a language.
On the cross, Jesus showed us that truth in its purest form.

If no one ever sat down to hear your story…
would your life preach one?

Would people know who you stand for
by the way you live, love, forgive, and endure?

Because Jesus didn’t just say “I love you”—
He demonstrated it.

“Jesus paid it all… all to Him I owe.”

So the question isn’t just what He did—
it’s what we do with it.

How are we paying it forward?

And maybe the hardest, most honest question of all:
Can we say, “Father, forgive them”…
when we feel like we’re the ones on the cross?

Forgiveness isn’t horizontal first—it’s vertical.
It’s not about them earning it.
It’s about us releasing it to the Father.

If you feel like you’re trying to forgive and it still feels out of reach, don’t condemn yourself—give yourself grace, and give yourself time. Many things in life respond to effort, but forgiveness isn’t one of them. Forgiveness isn’t something we force… it’s something we surrender.

Because when we try to fix things sideways before we’ve surrendered them upward,
we stay stuck in cycles we were never meant to carry.

Today proves something once and for all:
God is for you.
He has always been for you.

And if He could forgive there…
we can forgive here.

Have a “Good” Friday❤️

Thrilled to have Ashley on board as our new studio manager! Here’s a note from her. Welcome to the team, Ashley!

Dear Alter Studio Family,

Welcome back to a new year at Alter Studio! I am so grateful and excited to step into this year alongside each of you and to be part of what God is going to do through this studio.

For those I have not yet had the opportunity to meet, my name is Ashley Baker. I am a second-grade teacher at Winnsboro Elementary, I have been married to my husband Luke for 21 years, and a mom to two boys, Logan and Easton. My husband faithfully served in the United States Army for 20 years, and our family has learned the value of discipline, perseverance, service, and trusting God through every season, lessons that deeply shape who I am today.

It is truly an honor to be part of Alter Studio, a place where creativity, excellence, and faith come together. I am excited to see what God has in store for this season and how He will continue to move through our students, instructors, and Alter Family. I believe that when we use our gifts with intention and humility, God is glorified and lives are impacted far beyond Alter Studio.

As scripture reminds us:

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”- Proverbs 16:3

My prayer is that this year we lead with grace, encourage one another, and remain faithful stewards of the talent God has entrusted to us. Thank you for the heart, time, and dedication you bring to Alter Studio. I look forward to growing, serving, and celebrating all that God will do together.

With gratitude and excitement for the season ahead,

Ashley Baker
Studio Manager
