🔥 SUNDAY RECAP | STEWARDSHIP: TEMPERANCE 🔥
Sunday was one of those Sundays where the Word didn’t come to entertain us… it came to CHECK us. 😮💨
We continued our Stewardship Series and talked about Stewarding Temperance.
📖 2 Peter 1:5-6 says to add to your faith virtue… to virtue knowledge… and to knowledge temperance.
Temperance is self-control.
Self-restraint.
The ability to control your desires, passions, emotions, mouth, reactions, and responses.
It is the power NOT to react. 🔥
Because everybody can clap back…
Everybody can get somebody told…
Everybody can give somebody a piece of their mind…
But can you steward your spirit?
📖 Proverbs 16:32 says the person who controls their spirit is greater than one who captures a city.
People who are tempered are not easily swayed.
They are not easily moved.
They are not easily offended.
They don’t operate in the spirit of offense.
They see it… recognize it… and keep moving.
Sometimes you have to see and pray…
not see and say. 🙏🏾
📖 James 1:19 says be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath.
We are living in a hypersensitive society.
Everybody offended.
The dog offended.
Grandma offended.
The in-laws offended. 😭
But Impact… we cannot be people who are led by our feelings.
📖 Philippians 4:5 says, “Let your gentleness be evident to all.”
Your maturity is not just proven by how gifted you are.
It is proven by how you handle disagreement, correction, offense, and misunderstanding.
Disagreement does not mean you are my enemy.
Disagreement does not mean we fall out.
Disagreement does not mean I leave.
We have to learn how to agree to disagree and still like each other. 💯
Temperance is not optional.
📖 Galatians 5:22-23 says temperance is fruit of the Spirit.
So if the Holy Spirit lives in you… temperance ought to flow out of you.
You can’t convince me the Holy Spirit lives on the inside of you and you can’t take nothing.
Always reacting.
Always clapping back.
Always getting people told.
No… sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is be quiet. 🤐
Jesus was talked about.
Lied on.
Mocked.
Rejected.
Spit on.
Beaten.
And He had the power to respond.
He could have called legions of angels… but He took it.
That is temperance.
That is restraint.
That is power under control.
📖 Romans 12:17-21 tells us not to repay evil for evil, but to overcome evil with good.
So how is God going to repay if you keep trying to get your lick back? 👀
How is God going to get glory out of your life if you are a loose cannon?
📖 Proverbs 25:28 says a person without self-control is like a city with no walls.
That means anything can get in.
Anybody can move you.
Any comment can ruin your day.
Any offense can pull you out of position.
But this season requires a different emotional response.
Where there is anger… choose calm.
Where there is rage… choose a soft answer.
📖 Proverbs 15:1 says a soft answer turns away wrath.
Where there is anxiety… choose peace.
Where there is offense… choose forgiveness.
Because emotions are gauges, not guides.
They are meant to report to you… not rule you.
Your feelings are not your boss.
Your emotions are not your Lord.
Your triggers are not your truth.
📖 Proverbs 4:23 says guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the issues of life.
And 📖 Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on what is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report.
So the question is…
What mind is in you?
Everybody is not after you.
Everybody is not jealous of you.
Everybody is not intimidated by you.
Everybody is not in competition with you.
Stop picking up what Satan is putting down.
This week’s word was clear:
🔥 Temperance is stewardship.
🔥 Self-control is spiritual.
🔥 Silence can be strength.
🔥 A soft answer can shift a whole room.
🔥 Everything does not deserve your response.
Impact… we are not matching energy.
When they go low… we go high.
When offense comes… we stay sober.
When emotions rise… temperance should come out.
📣 Somebody type:
“LORD, HELP ME STEWARD MYSELF.”
