As we begin this week, let’s also think about how we will end it.

Juneteenth is one day on the calendar, but its meaning extends far beyond a single celebration. As we approach this important day, let us remember why we celebrate and commit ourselves to honoring the ongoing work of freedom, justice, and equality every day.

May we seek opportunities to listen, learn, and care for one another, recognizing that true freedom is strengthened when every person is seen, valued, and loved.

Juneteenth reminds us of our shared humanity—and invites us to live out that promise not just once a year, but every day.

Our 2025 Grant Awardee Friday Feature is Fenix Family Health Center. WCC is grateful to have a partner like Fenix Family Health Center to work together and serve the community.

Fenix is the trusted non-profit healthcare organization serving our Spanish-speaking immigrant families of Lake County, Illinois. They provide affordable, comprehensive medical services, integrating wellness and education with compassion and cultural sensitivity.

To learn more about Fenix visit https://fenixclinic.org.

The WCC Grant Committee awarded $207,500 in grants to 27 agencies in December 2025. Funding for the grants came from the net proceeds of Winnetka Congregational Church Rummage sales and the Chicago Community Trust endowment.

We are thrilled to be able to support so many agencies doing such vital work in the community!

As Winnetka prepares for the Winnetka Music Festival next week, let’s take a moment to celebrate the musicians and performers who have helped create spaces of joy, community, comfort, and belonging for LGBTQAI+ people.

Music speaks to both the soul and the spirit. It has the power to transcend words and sound, connecting us through shared experiences, inspiring hope, and reminding us that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and loved.

This Pride Month, we give thanks for the artists who have used their voices, creativity, and courage to help others feel less alone and more fully themselves. May we continue to support and uplift one another, and may the music that brings us together remind us of the beauty found in diversity, authenticity, and love. 🌈🎶💜

From the Rocky Mountains to the Appalachian trails, God’s beauty is all around us when we take the time to look.

This summer, we invite you to pause, appreciate nature, and share what brings you joy. Send us your favorite photos of summer or tag and tell us what is good.
